Welcome indeed! There's myself, truebluefan, and TomBoerwinkle#1 who are admins and big-time Chicago sports fans. I may be forgetting a few key people. I grew up in Chicago. I went to about half the Cubs' games every year for about 5 straight years. My folks had season tickets to the Blackhawks and I went and saw a number of hockey games (back in the Broadstreet Bullies days). I was at the final College All-Star Game at Soldier Field. Archie Manning was the college QB, Walter Payton was the college RB, Brian Baschnagel played on the defense. They played the Pittsburgh Steelers. I remember when the Bears had Bobby Douglas at QB. The guy was huge. They talked about making him a fullback or a tight end. One season he rushed for almost 1000 yards, back when that was a real achievement for a really good running back. He used to throw the ball so hard, he'd break a guy's fingers trying to catch a screen pass It would be an honor to be able to provide you all with a new home to replace the forums at ChicagoBears.com. If you have any questions, suggestions, etc., feel free to send me or truebluefan a PM. We're happy to allow you to elect your own forum moderators, create subforums you request, and that sort of thing. Go Bears! (Go Bulls, Go Cubs, Go Sox, go Hawks!).
Life long Bulls fan! Watch the Cubs, watch the Bears when I get a chance. We welcome you to sportstwo. We will try and make your migration a comfortable one.
I'd like to add that we have had a very liberal usage policy until now. We allow swearing and a reasonable amount of trash talk. Our objective here is to avoid moderator confrontations with posters as much as possible. Bans and suspensions are very rare things. We appreciate our members and realize they may have a bad day - and a bad day is not worth banning or suspending a member over.
I put in one last plug for the forum here. There is no real consensus on where everyone will migrate to. There seems to be pro & cons to the other options available and I asked that everyone have this site as a back up plan. Hope this helps & hope to see other CBMB posters here in the future. The CBMB site dies after today.
Yeah. Well, we'd certainly love to have the people here, We have a gigabit to the Internet, so there's near zero chance we'd have any kind of server or network issues.
What Denny said. We have experience in running success forums. And server issues will be nonexistent. Also we cover the Bulls. We can make forums once again for the Cubs, White Sox, and Blackhawks. Whatever the community wants. And of course we are not Twitter or Facebook.
