You have to wonder how Danny O'Brien will factor into the equation. When you have all college football games being played on the same day, you can only watch so many, and I sure as hell didn't spend any time watching Danny O'Brien at Maryland, as I'm sure ya'll didn't either. The reports are that he's heady and efficient, and his numbers look decent, but stepping into the starting role at quarterback for the Big Ten champion and learning a whole new system makes him a huge x-factor.

I've always found it so much harder to project college football in the preseason than college basketball, because of the players who develop on the bench. For example, if a college freshman only gets 5-10 mpg in basketball, then that's generally considered to be a freshman who didn't get that much playing time. However, even with that little of playing time, you can see what's going on with a player's game. With collegiate football, you'll have players who redshirted, didn't play much as freshmen and sophomores, and then finally get their chance their junior or senior year and break out, as well as transfers like O'Brien who have to learn an entirely new playbook.

Wisconsin does have Ball returning, so they could always just run a lot of plays on the ground and save their offense early on if O'Brien starts to struggle, but regardless, if it turns out that he actually does struggle, that's recipe for an upset, or at least a closer game than expected. That unknown is the only thing I'd be optimistic about as an Oregon St. fan.

there could be a upset waiting to happen OSU is known for producing big upsets. Oregon state should be greatly improved from last year with so many great starters coming back like Jordan Poyer, Sean Mannion, Markus Wheaton, Brandon cooks, and many others plus its in Corvallis which is a big advantage...who knows it may be upset time again in Corvallis. Go Beavers!

Its kindof ironic that the Beavers have the Trojan's numbers the last 6 years or so in Corvallis, but the Ducks don't seem to do that in Eugene.

This will definitely be an exciting game to watch.

Wisconsin enters as the heavy favorite, but how they let Northern Iowa back into the game last week has to give Beavers fans hope.

If I were an Oregon State fan though, my biggest concern would be the play of Danny O'Brien in Week 1. Wisconsin faltered late, but the biggest question mark heading into the season was how O'Brien, the Maryland transfer, would fit into Wisconsin's system. O'Brien responded with a very solid performance: 219 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a 82.6% completion rate. That kind of performance makes you think he's got the offense pretty well figured out.

There are only so many games you can watch on a Saturday, and I didn't catch the Wisky game, so I can't speak to how he actually looked. Those numbers have to be concerning to Beavers fans though, seeing how that was one of the big question marks with this Wisky team.
