Last week: OSU travels to BYU and beats them by 18 with a backup QB. This week: BYU travels to Notre Dame and loses by only 3 in South Bend. Will the voters make the reasonable change in their polls? Of course not.
Yes, everyone has a grudge against Oregon State. It's not like Notre Dame essentially won the Big Ten, knocking off Purdue, Michigan, and Michigan St., with two of the games on the road. The win against Stanford also wasn't of significance. Furthermore, their defense hasn't played better than any other defense outside of the state of Alabama... right? Get over the Notre Dame hate.
You infer too much. Saying that the media generally inflates Notre Dame's ranking is not equivalent to claiming a "grudge" against Oregon State. Saying that OSU's performances warrant higher ranking than Notre Dame's is not an attempt to denigrate the Irish; it is praise for the Beavers. I'm neither a ND hater (I want them to do well, actually), nor a Beaver homer. I'm calling it like I see. Those who call out bias where none exists are usually the ones bringing the bias to the table.
One of those "road" games, considered a home game, was against Navy. Not sure how much playing in Ireland played a role for either team though. They've played 1 true road game (in the sense of being a home game for their opponent). Get over the Notre Dame love.
Notre Dame has played a tougher schedule, they deserve to be ranked higher than us. Notre Dame has the toughest schedule of all teams this year. But they did get lucky vs Stanford. That should have been a loss.
I saw a SOS link the other day (can't find it) that would not agree with your assessment. playing 1 true road game does not equal toughest schedule of all teams.
I was talking about their overall schedule, including upcoming games. But their schedule did look much tougher at the start of the season. Some of their "tough" opponents didnt live up to the hype (Mich St). They play @ #8 Oklahoma this weekend. I think ND will lose. So if we can beat UW on the road, we will probably jump them in the BCS.
Yeah, I'm not worried about what the other top 10 teams are doing, only what our Beavs are doing. All of our remaining games are against solid teams that we could easily end up losing. Except for a loss on the road at Arizona Washington has only been beat by top15 teams, the've had the toughest schedule in the country. Now they get to play at home. Our game at Standford and hosting the Ducks are both games I'd honestly have to bet against us if my job was on the line. I'm hoping for the best and enjoying the great run so far this year but at the end the difference between us having a great season or an epic season is entirely in the Beavs hands.
