The Golden State Warriors had to deal with adversity on and off the court to pull out a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers and put a happy ending on a difficult day. Stephen Curry and reserve Carl Landry had 23 points apiece, and the Warriors held off the Clippers for a 114-110 victory on Saturday night.
Another road win, and did it against a Clippers team that I think will be a top regular season team this year. Can't ever complain about that. We dominated on the rebounding numbers and won despite their excellent 3 pt shooting. Also survived some downright awful officiating. Gritty road win and, like the Phoenix game, this is one we probably lose in year's past. Gotta give credit to the front office. Landry and Jack are great reserves. Festus is looking like an excellent pick. Barnes flashed some great play in the 4th Q (is it just me or does he look much quicker than he was in college?) and he continues to be solid on defense considering his inexperience. Speaking of which, Klay hasn't fully exploded offensively but hes been solid on defense and averaging over 6 rpg thus far, plus he initiated some offense tonight. Curry with another very good game, looking like Curry from the Nelly days. Had 10 FT as well.
This game really showed me the difference between flash and substance. Look at Griffin's game; I love the guy and how hard he plays but he's got nothing but the finish on the pick and roll. On the block, he's got nothing to hurt you. Same when he faces up. Now look at how Landry played. Now I know he's not a 23/10 guy every night. He's got some short comings. But he's a nice, patient post player. And boy can he finish in the trees. Imagine what Griffin would be IF HE HAD LANDRY'S PATIENCE AND TOUCH. Sadly, does not look like he's going to get there.
