How are you offering Belinelli, a FA, that kind of money? Bulls are over the cap and are limited in the kinds of exceptions they can use.

I am not hot to trade Deng for the sake of it. If he brings you a 2nd ball handler who can make his own shot and a backup big, I would do it. Jimmy's play at the end of the season and playoffs means we already have an excellent replacement. Given the way the new CBA works, having a $14M/year player and a rookie scale player who are roughly equivalent means you have wasted precious cap space.

Where you see the way-over-the-LT Bulls freely spending whatever they can, I see them not signing anyone for $4.8mil, not using the MMLE, not using the TPE. Teague, Malcolm Thomas, Nazr, and whoever else willing to take the vet minimum will be the bench.

For Belinelli, the $4.8mil is the total for the 2 years...$2.35mil and $2.45mil. This can be done using the non-Bird exception.

As for the rest, I guess we'll see.

What does the new ownership have to do with them being willing to make the deal?

They have Marcus Thornton to step in for Evans, and they don't have much defense or a quality SF so Deng would fit nicely.

BTW, if the Kings would do Thornton and Thompson instead, I would make the deal still.

Do they even have a GM? New ownership might clean house and who's to say that the successor will make that deal for Evans?

Evans is an RFA. I don't see why they want to match the big contract he's going to be offered. They're paying Thornton $8M at SG and Salmons $7M at SF. They gave the starting PG job to Isaiah Thomas, who mages $750K.

I like the Deng for S&T'd Tyreke Evans and Jason Thompson. We need more scoring. Butler will be our SF. TE will be our SG.

We dont beat any of the top 4 teams with what we have. We need more scoring. Money wise, we cant do it. We need to be creative and take risks. We dont have enough scorers, shot creators to seriously contend for it all.

I would love to try and keep Nate on this team, but I dont see it happening.

Boozer may get amnestied, but, I hope he doesnt. He was our best player all season long.

No doubt it will make us worse. Taj starting is not Boozer, then again who will come off of the bench for Taj?

We dont amnesty Boozer. We take a big step back if we do. Now, we could trade Deng due to Butlers emergence.

Because hes still young and talented. Maybe Im just over valuing him. Crazier things have happened (like them trading another top 5 pick for essentially nothing).
