Eddie Alvarez signed an offer sheet with the UFC and when Bellator attempted to match it he sued them, suggesting their contract was not equal. Part of the inequality he pointed out was that the UFC was offering him PPV-based revenue and Bellator was only offering him potential PPV-based revenue since they'd never had a show on PPV previously. Fast forward to today and we have the announcement that Alvarez has re-signed with Bellator and will compete next on November's inaugural Bellator PPV in a rematch with lightweight champion Michael Chandler. The headliner for that show is still scheduled to be Quinton Jackson vs. Tito Ortiz but the Chandler/Alvarez rematch is the more competitive and compelling fight and I'm sure it will be referred to as "the real main event" by purists. Chandler and Alvarez first fought in November of 2011 in what was one of Bellator's best ever fights. Chandler won in the fourth round by rear naked choke. Bellator's PPV event will be held on November 2nd from the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA.
