It didn't seem like a joke until sly pointed it out.

My mother is a staunch YEC who also believes UFOs and aliens are real and originate from inside the Earth. Top that combo.

From a psychological perspective Karma is a pretty interesting topic. Lots of atheist/agnostic/skeptic types for whatever reason also seem unexplainably quick to endorse a metaphysical Karmic connection of some type when the subject comes up. It's weird.

you believe God controls all events and is the arbiter and implementer of the results of our actions. that is not karma. karma by definition is something that just happens on autopilot.

I think it's because we like to hope that bad people get what they deserve. I attribute this to movies, and cartoons, and everything else that Hollywood pumps out. The villain isn't supposed to win, and yet bad people succeed all the time.

My aunt thinks weed is the only key to happiness for everyone and we just don't know it yet. When she is sober she is the biggest bitch you'll meet.

I think a lot of them just don't fully consider the implications - if what they are claiming about action and consequence might require a metaphysical connection to work in the real world.

No I don't and most Christians don't. Many Christians believe that we have our own free will. Our actions determine our fate.

God is the creator and the judge.

    That's pretty good!

Not in the same league, but my dad had us prepare for Y2K... like Textured Vegetable Protein in the pantry and a new shotgun under the bed prepared. He also saw a wedge UFO.

I personally believe I was caught in a time vortex while driving in Northern California.

I don't believe in Karma, but I do believe in the Evil Eye. The Evil Eye is watching you.

I'm just telling you like it is. It's like saying you believe in Obama but you aren't a Communist Muslim. We all know, everyone who believes in Obama is a Communist Muslim.

Before my father's strange death, he brought me up on the Evil Eye. As a tiny tot, I learned nursery rhymes from him. In between our joyous singing, he would fill the gaps with lessons about the Evil Eye.

When I hurt myself, he told me the Evil Eye had decided that I deserved it. As time passed, the Evil Eye enlarged in my heart until it consumed me. I realized that it watches all that we do and exacts retribution. Thus I pass unto you what my father passed to me from his father, and forever before on up the chain of ancestors, which are common between you and me if we look back far enough: Beware, the Evil Eye.

Well some sects of Buddhism are most definitely a religion, the Tibetan variety for one. They have a lot of supernatural stuff in there.
