    Taking a cue from Romney's 47% line?

I hope your fellow democrats go for it.

The dumb insurance companies will honor existing policies.

The smart ones will cancel them and charge hiked ObamaCare type prices for policies the buyer doesn't really want.

In this state it takes three to six months to have an insurance plan approved by the insurance commissioner in this state..to try and re qualify a discontinued plan is a waste of monies and effort. I do not see it happening.

Clearly today's move was an attempt by Obama to dump the blame for the cancelled policies on the insurance industry. Nice move by a guy who's been depending upon those companies to make the ACA work.

My wife has been on conference calls all night, and got called to SF Sunday for emergency meetings early next week. She works for a very large non-profit HMO. I'm not sure the president understands that his words actually have meaning, and people in the industry are very confused right now after spending over 2 years preparing individual policies that were acceptable under ObamaCare.

Obama is incredible! The dude has a bucket of balls and thimble half full of brains.
Wtf, now he thinks he can salvage this cluster fuck of a non plan by executive order???

Tell the Insurance company to sell the old plans for one more year? My God, somebody better tell this guy quick that he ain't King and if he was he has nobody that can put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

How in the hell did this become the leader of my nation??? By golly I think we need to improve the schools, raise the voting age and to hell with voter ID's, we need competency testing.

This entire mess, and the way Obama has handled it, aligns very well with why people (the reasonable ones, anyway) had concerns about his lack of experience and lack of leading any real organizations.

There is such a huge difference between having an idea and knowing what it takes to get it implemented and lead people to get it done. Even if you agree with Obama's ideas, it is tough to argue that he is good at implementing them.

I think that's a really good point. I think that the Democrats would be in a lot better shape right now if Hillary had been elected in 2008 and Obama had had some time getting some seasoning as a senator before being ready to run in 2016. Hillary's doing a dance trying to distance herself from Obama and the ACA, but I don't know if she'll be able to accomplish that if the stink gets bad enough. Of course, the Republicans have been so busy blowing their own toes off it may not matter.

    Amusing tidbit from Krauthammer

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...2e9834-4d6f-11e3-be6b-d3d28122e6d4_print.html

Beyond the competence issue is the arrogance. Five million freely chosen, freely purchased, freely renewed health-care plans are summarily canceled. Why? Because they don’t meet some arbitrary standard set by the experts in Washington.

For all his news conference gyrations about not deliberately deceiving people with his “if you like it” promise, the law Obama so triumphantly gave us allows you to keep your plan only if he likes it. This is life imitating comedy — that old line about a liberal being someone who doesn’t care what you do as long as it’s mandatory.

    great post

I enjoyed these few lines best.

The centerpiece of this vision is, of course, Obamacare, the most sweeping social reform in the past half-century, affecting one-sixth of the economy and directly touching the most vital area of life of every citizen.

As the only socially transformational legislation in modern American history to be enacted on a straight party-line vote, Obamacare is wholly owned by the Democrats. Its unraveling would catastrophically undermine their underlying ideology of ever-expansive central government providing cradle-to-grave care for an ever-grateful citizenry.

For four years, this debate has been theoretical. Now it’s real. And for Democrats, it’s a disaster.

    wow...

    QT WP

Oprah recently intoned that many Americans disrespect Obama because he is African American. Even if that were remotely true, it is not the reason half the country opposes Obamacare and many more now doubt its efficacy.

really? She is going to play the race card? What a joke. Most of the sheep are still beating themselves on the back, pride full of delivering unto us the savior, while plugging their collective ears to the truth of obamas lies.

Can anyone let me know if this Facebook pic is Snopes-approved? Or at least, if it was actually said? I can't find a transcript.

Here is one example of his speech http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2013/09/26/remarks-president-affordable-care-act

    The quote

Now, this is real simple. It’s a website where you can compare and purchase affordable health insurance plans, side-by-side, the same way you shop for a plane ticket on Kayak -- (laughter) -- same way you shop for a TV on Amazon. You just go on and you start looking, and here are all the options.

It’s buying insurance on the private market, but because now you’re part of a big group plan -- everybody in Maryland is all logging in and taking a look at the prices -- you’ve got new choices. Now you've got new competition, because insurers want your business. And that means you will have cheaper prices. (Applause.)

So you enter in some basic information about yourself, what level of coverage you’re looking for. After that, you’ll be presented with a list of quality, affordable plans that are available in your area. It will say clearly what each plan covers, what each plan costs. The price will be right there. It will be fully transparent.

here is the exact speech that the quote you have came from

So if these stories of hardworking Americans sound familiar to you, well, starting today, you and your friends and your family and your coworkers can get covered, too. Just visit healthcare.gov, and there you can compare insurance plans, side by side, the same way you’d shop for a plane ticket on Kayak or a TV on Amazon. You enter some basic information, you’ll be presented with a list of quality, affordable plans that are available in your area, with clear descriptions of what each plan covers, and what it will cost. You’ll find more choices, more competition, and in many cases, lower prices -- most uninsured Americans will find that they can get covered for $100.00 or less.
