Lenzelle Smith Jr., Aaron Craft lead Ohio State surge over Wyoming

This has not been a vintage year for Aaron Craft on offense.

But with his team trailing in the second half, Craft took over and gave seventh-ranked Ohio State a lift down the stretch.

Lenzelle Smith Jr. scored 20 points and Craft had all 10 of his points in a second-half surge to lead the Buckeyes past stubborn Wyoming 65-50 on Monday night.

Traevon Jackson helps Wisconsin hold off Saint Louis

It's the upperclassmen who know Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan's system best.

Their experience showed Tuesday as the No. 10 Badgers blunted a Saint Louis surge to win 63-57 and advance to face West Virginia in Wednesday's finals of the Cancun Challenge.

Sam Dekker's double-double helps Wisconsin stay perfect

Four minutes into Wednesday's Cancun Challenge championship game and Wisconsin's Sam Dekker had four points and four rebounds. After 12 minutes, he had eight rebounds and eight points, and the No. 10-ranked Badgers had just scored 18 unanswered points against West Virginia.

Dekker finished with a career-high 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Wisconsin beat the Mountaineers 70-63 to remain unbeaten and win the tournament championship.

No. 23 Iowa pulls out OT win over Xavier, loses Roy Devyn Marble

The notion defies logic. Iowa had not led for a single second all night. The guy who was single-handedly carrying the offense was gone with a nasty leg cramp. The deficit was four, and time was running out.

Somehow, that meant the Hawkeyes had Xavier right where they wanted.

Never led in regulation, never trailed in overtime and still unbeaten. Such is the story for No. 23 Iowa, which rallied from a 15-point, second-half deficit to beat Xavier 77-74 in overtime of the Battle 4 Atlantis quarterfinals Thursday night.

Keith Appling comes off bench to help No.1 Spartans win

The next measuring stick for top-ranked Michigan State is No. 16 North Carolina on Wednesday as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

"We're going to have to play a lot better this week," Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo said after his team routed Mount St. Mary's 98-65 Friday. "What a privilege and an honor to be able to play two of the most winningest programs in the history of the NCAA in Kentucky and North Carolina in a seven-, eight-game stretch."

LaQuinton Ross sheds slump, lets No. 7 Ohio St. romp

The first time that Ohio State's LaQuinton Ross took a shot, North Florida coach Matthew Driscoll knew it was going to be a long night.

Ross broke out of a frigid shooting spell by scoring 17 points Friday night and the seventh-ranked Buckeyes rode a 19-point first-half run to a 99-64 victory over the overmatched Ospreys.

Freshman Irvin scores 24, No. 22 Michigan rolls

With leading scorer Nik Stauskas out, No. 22 Michigan was looking for an offensive spark against Coppin State. Freshman Zak Irvin admirably filled the role.

The 6-foot-6 Irvin came off the bench to score a game-high 24 points in a 87-45 win Friday, making 9 of 13 shots from the floor, including 6 of 10 from 3-point range.

No. 23 Iowa rolls past UTEP, 89-53

    Zach McCabe had a dunk.

Let that serve as the proof that everything was working for No. 23 Iowa.

Aaron White scored 17 points, McCabe added 14 -- including the first dunk of the senior forward's collegiate career -- and the Hawkeyes rolled into the championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis, easily beating Texas-El Paso 89-53 on Friday night.

No. 23 Iowa holds off Notre Dame 98-93

Iowa tried to wear down Notre Dame with its superior depth -- but the Fighting Irish wouldn't back down.

So the Hawkeyes instead leaned on their three stars; Aaron White, Devyn Marble and emerging standout Jarrod Uthoff, to hold off the feisty Irish.

White scored 20 points, Marble and Uthoff added 17 each and No. 23 Iowa beat Notre Dame 98-93 on Tuesday night.

Ohio St. wallops future conference-mate Maryland in Big Ten/ACC tilt

Welcome to the Big Ten, Terps.

LaQuinton Ross scored 17 of his 20 points in the first half, hitting his first four 3-pointers, to send No. 5 Ohio State to an early lead and a 76-60 victory over Maryland on Wednesday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Wisconsin stymies Virginia as Bo Ryan wins 300th with team

Wisconsin's high-scoring offense has garnered much of the attention during the school's best start in 20 years.

It was the Badgers' defense that did the hard work Wednesday night in a 48-38 victory against Virginia.

Ross has 23, No. 5 Buckeyes beat CCSU, 74-56

For the first four games of the season, just about everybody was playing well for Ohio State except LaQuinton Ross.

On Saturday, he was one of the few Buckeyes who had a good game -- and it made a world of difference.

Ross scored four of his career-high 23 points in a 10-0 second-half run, leading No. 5 Ohio State past Central Connecticut State 74-56.

No. 8 Badgers edge Marquette, off to best start in 20 years

Sam Dekker finished his trips into the lane with rousing dunks and burned defenders with 3s.

And after almost every bucket, Wisconsin's energetic sophomore would turn to the crowd and pump his arms to encourage his adoring fans to get louder.

The wide-eyed Dekker had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and the eighth-ranked Badgers withstood a late Marquette rally for a 70-64 victory especially cherished in Madison because it snapped a two-game losing streak in the intrastate rivalry.

No. 22 Michigan routs Houston Baptist 107-53

Mitch McGary pulled down a rebound and began dribbling, his teammates calmly finding their spots on the floor while the 6-foot-10 big man showed off his point guard skills.

After a brief pause, McGary kept right on going, all the way to the basket for a three-point play.

"Any time he gets a rebound, and he's just going by himself, we're OK with that," Michigan guard Nik Stauskas said. "I don't think anyone wants to step in front of him."

McGary had 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists, and No. 22 Michigan overwhelmed Houston Baptist 107-53 on Saturday, reaching its highest point total in over 15 years. Stauskas scored 17 of his 25 points in the first half, when the Wolverines were nearly flawless on the offensive end.

No. 23 Iowa beats Drake 83-66

For much of the first half, Drake looked like it might actually give No. 23 Iowa a scare.

The Hawkeyes needed less than three minutes to let the Bulldogs know they were in over their heads.

Melsahn Basabe had a season-high 15 points and No. 23 Iowa cruised past Drake 83-66 on a neutral floor Saturday night.

No. 23 Iowa beats Fairleigh Dickinson 92-59

With an early start time, a late-arriving crowd and a huge rivalry game to look ahead to, No. 23 Iowa could have easily overlooked heavy underdog Fairleigh Dickinson.

The Hawkeyes still had more than enough energy to put aside the Knights.

Gabe Olaseni tied a career high with 14 points and had 10 rebounds as Iowa pulled away to a 92-59 victory Monday night, its 10th win of the season.

Lenzelle Smith Jr., Ohio State cruise to 38-point rout of Bryant

When opposing teams scout No. 3 Ohio State, they seldom notice Lenzelle Smith Jr.

Buckeyes coach Thad Matta hopes they keep ignoring him.

Smith scored 19 points and No. 3 Ohio State pulled away early to beat Bryant 86-48 on Wednesday night.

No. 4 Wisconsin off to best start in decade after win over Milwaukee

Leave it to Bo Ryan to find fault with No. 4 Wisconsin's biggest margin of victory of the young season or tying its best start in 70 years.

But his players couldn't agree more.

Although Ben Brust scored 18 points and Frank Kaminsky added 16 as the Badgers remained undefeated with a 78-52 victory over in-state rival Milwaukee on Wednesday night, Ryan and his players weren't exactly thrilled with the effort.

LaQuinton Ross, Lenzelle Smith each score 18 in Ohio State's win

It wasn't like North Dakota State could sneak up on No. 3 Ohio State.

After watching film of the Bison pull off a huge upset at Notre Dame on Wednesday night, there was no way the Buckeyes were going to be on anything but high alert.

LaQuinton Ross and Lenzelle Smith Jr. each scored 18 points and the Buckeyes never trailed in rolling over NDSU 79-62 Saturday night.

Ben Brust leads No. 4 Wisconsin by Eastern Kentucky

Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan isn't ready to talk about this season's team being special.

But he couldn't help but be impressed at least a little with what the fourth-ranked Badgers did in an 86-61 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
