Re: An Early look at 2014 NBA Draft Prospects I'll preface this by saying this is just like, my opinion, man... Leonard had a pretty large sample size his rookie year. Terrible defender/rebounder & somehow looked worse this year in preseason/small minutes during reg. I'm basically ready to move past him. There is a reason Joel "decent" Freeland took his job. With his 3pt game he thinks he has he looks at this point like an Andrea Bargnani at the very best. Crabbe is a solid D & 3 guy, CJ is an undersized 2 guard. Neither of those guys are locks to become anything more than role players. If Olshey sees a guard in the draft he knows will be better I don't see why he would make the move even sending those guys out. Not ready to give up on TRob with his improvements so far, though if we could get Payne in a swap straight up? Ohhh that could be worth it I'd say. If Mo tries to accept his deal I say we move him. Can't give up the majority of our backup guard minutes to a guy who plays poor defense & inefficient offense. If Stotts tells him all he is gonna get is 10mpg next year I doubt he accepts his player option. As I said, I was trying to keep free agency for another thread. Go Blazers.
Re: An Early look at 2014 NBA Draft Prospects Man, shut this rookies thread down please! What is happening to this place.....its like the wild wild west! http://sportstwo.com/threads/239567-The-Official-2014-NBA-Draft-Thread
Re: An Early look at 2014 NBA Draft Prospects It is a fairly different thread considering you just posted a picture of top prospects for discussion & a few words. While I did a 700+ word description of 5 specific players the Blazers could/would target in this draft w/a poll that ARE in the range for them in the draft as opposed to your top 20 list, which as I mentioned is likely the untouchable range. If the mods want to its no problem. Just consider with mine you must admit there is a significant amount of content that separates this from just a simple discussion thread. Not too worried about it though. Go Blazers.
Wonder how you figured out bout him? He is a point forward, can't guard 1's. Re: An Early look at 2014 NBA Draft Prospects I'd check out either of the Harrison twins, before any of these dudes aside from maybe McGary and Clarkson (who won't be available by the time we could grab him, IMO)
Mitch has a little Pekovic to his game. What's the story with him? He's a soph. but is the age of a Sr.
well, i been thinking about this for a while now. i really want jabari parkers, he play a lot like paul george. i think maybe trading barton, future picks and t-rob to nets or magic for a pick would be ideal. if we can make a trade like this, then we instantly have other elite scorer and can take batum position and move batum to SG and wesley becomes a 6th man. the lineup would be lillard, batum, parker, aldridge. and lopez. that lineup improve our defense and our offense. once meyers can developed, we will be the once-in-a-generation team
I want to buy into the hype, but I'm still a prisoner to my thoughts about all of the busts that have "only played basketball for ___ years" and therefore have unlimited potential. Maybe that's just because my Grizz drafted Hasheem Thabeet for the same reason, but it doesn't seem like these situations work out very often. It's unfair to pigeon-hole the guy because other prospects didn't develop, and I've only gotten to watch him once this season (vs. Duke), but that's my gut reaction, right or wrong. You don't want to be the team that took Darko Milicic right after LeBron James and before Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade. This has been shaping up for a while to be the most stacked draft since '03, and I'd personally lean towards the sure thing in that scenario. If this were last year's draft, I'd be fine going for Embiid with the #1 pick, but with all the other proven, sure-fire talent like Jabari Parker available, it'd be a ballsy move to take a player that early based on potential.
I accept your highlight mix and raise you one!
The year of highlights from T-Rob still aren't nearly as impressive as the Georgetown game highlights from Embiid!
If you want to see an athletic freak watch Zach Lavine at UCLA. Goodness he's got ups. I have to watch him more though, I'm not really sold on him yet. His athleticism is jaw dropping though.
ATL gets the better of their or BKN's pick. DEN gets NYK's pick, unless it's a worse pick than DEN's, in which case ORL gets the NYK pick and DEN keeps the best pick So it looks like BKN will actually get a pick, though it will probably be in the late teens/early twenties, while the Knicks get bupkis (b/c their 2nd goes to HOU)--unless by some miracle the Kings get the 56-60th pick, in which case NYK gets SAC's 56-60 pick
I think he'll be a riser on draft night but had we kept our (low first) pick this is the guy I'd want: Doug McDermott continues to shoot the hell out of the ball: 24.8 PPG 7.3 RPG 49 FG% 90 FT% 42 3PT% (6 attempts/per) 63 TS% He's cut from the same mold as Teletovic/Korver.
