Remember when I was laughed at saying the Blazers will be top 5 in rebounding?

Well looks like they are the best rebounding team in the nba. This has to be our year. We are winning all sorts of games, by out running you to playing half court.

    This team is for real!

Hard to believe that they lead the league in rebounding. Especially since they never seem to get the rebounds that hit the floor first. Other than TRob we don't seem to have any quick leapers. The Blazers do a great job of keeping the ball alive though on the offense end.

I do want to see TRob with more minutes. 5 rebounds and 2 steals, 1 assist in 10 minutes last night.

Same with Dungeons and Dragons Dave Decker on Homer's Edge. Blazer were 24th in the NBA last season. They looked much improved and finished pre-season 1st in the NBA. How little must someone know about basketball to have watched the Blazers' pre-season and say they wouldn't be better than 24th in rebounding? lol

To rob is a decent defender too. Brings a lot of energy to the table! I would like to see more of him too, but Aldridge was just beasting out there. U couldn't afford to take him out

Somehow Terry needs to play them together for about 3 minutes each half. That will at least get him 15-16 minutes a game. I know it is a work in progress, but by next year maybe he can get some minutes at SF. Defensively I think he is mobile enough to handle it. Plus LMA can handle a few minutes a half at center.

My only complaint is that first half against OKC. 10 offensive rebounds in the first half! GAH! That cost us that game, IMO, because we were clicking then and they were struggling. We could have weathered the KD storm, IMO.

The rebounding turnaround from last year to this, has been a nice, big surprise.

pretty easy fix...sub trob in for rolo in the first quarter instead of freeland. would get trob a couple extra minutes.

Our high rebounding numbers are basically entirely a result of our offensive rebounds, we are 2nd in the league at corralling 29.5% of offensive boards second only to the funky lineup Pistons whom pull down 30.9%.

But for defensive rebounds we are right at the league average with 74.6% which is 16th. The Pacers are #1 at 77.0%, while the Spurs are 3rd at 76.4%. Both those teams are excellent defensive teams. There is a very high correlation between good defensive efficiency and good defensive team rebounding.

The big downside with our accomplishment is teams that get a large amount of offensive rebound are normally poor defensive teams since they don't get back on defense early and are out of position. The Timberwolves are the only team in the top5 of offensive rebounding with an above average defense, and I hate to think they are any sort of a model for us to emulate.

I am impressed that we are a middle of the pack defensive rebounding team, I was very concerned with starting bigman duo of Aldridge and Lopez but it has not been a weakness.

I remember laughing at the ridiculous premise that the Blazers needed to average 50rpg to be top 4, despite the fact no team has averaged that many rebounds for 35 years.

You deserved to get laughed at for that one.
