There are a million counterexamples to this ⇧ I'll go with this guy. 6'3 250 as a 16 year old projects great for an inside player. STOMP
He weighed in at 270, and will need to redshirt anyway. rumor is Juju's parents want USC but he's leaning oregon.. but probably all smoke. Still think unlikely to get.
Yeah, we're not gonna get JuJu. USC will get Mama and JuJu, and Adoree will go to Florida for their track.
Maloata could put on 25 pounds with his eyes closed in Eugene with our strength coaches and tailored diet + he's got one hell of a motor. I think he could easily play NG or DT in a year. In two years our whole D line could be island boys, that's a good thing! As for JuJu, if he gets the opportunity to play with Marcus for a year + be paired with Rolls Royce and Jalen Brown for 3, he should jump at that! He, Brown and Carrington would be a pick your lethal dose of poison receivers chore and they'll be man covered for the fear of Tyner and Freeman not to mention Mariota/ Mahalak on the ground or a Tazr explosion from Tony James. Add to that Sark is building an up tempo "copying Ducks" offense at USC while bringing in 6'4 400 pound O lineman like Mama which seems extremely counter productive to anyone ever seeing this kid move. How can you run a fast spread with O lineman that weight? I'm worried this Mama may be 410 by fall. Not healthy and surely not fast! Add it'll take two years for USC to understand how to play Sark ball and guess what? JuJu will be a junior wondering why I didn't go to Oregon and play in two BCS bowls by now! If JuJu's parents are really thinking about this kids future they should worry about this USC group. A) Sark hired Tosh and all the sleazy stuff Tosh brought to Washington. B) Sark can't beat Oregon! I think JuJu should look at the facts, USC will surely pump him full of fiction!
yup, 270 is what he's claiming he weighs now. Like most 17 year old kids he's still filling out... which has been my point all along on why it's Okay to go after non-300 lb HS DTs. I agree that he'll probably Redshirt this year (along with Jelks & Hollins) to work on his body and the playbook. With 7 Juniors (AA, Buckner, Balducci, Bair, Kamp, Daniel & Talia), barring injuries Oregon probably has enough depth for 2014 though Trey L. could be able to carve out a niche. Whats important is that they have young guys in the system to take over the main roles in a couple seasons. If they'd struck out landing Freshman this year they'd have had to dip heavily into the JC pool next cycle. btw... Austin has a cousin who lives in Eugene I read recent quotes from JS that he tried to make it to Eugene on his own dime this weekend to give the Ducks another look. His USC interest is supposed to be dropping because of their quality of depth at Safety which he views as his best position. Like Trey L. he sees Oregon presenting the better opportunity to crack the rotation early. Frontrunners for the 2-deep at Safety next year are Dargin, Daniels, Tyree Robinson & Juwaan Williams STOMP
I'm not saying this isn't true, but it makes your BFF claims about AA & Vanderdoes seem tame. Like Sacramento & Placerville, Long Beach & Corona are about 45 miles apart but up until recently Maloata lived on Pago Pago in American Samoa. http://www.samoanews.com/?q=node/74633 https://maps.google.com/maps?client...gl=us&ei=PXLuUsivPMX0oAT-iYCgAw&ved=0CKQBELYD STOMP
And thats what I'm scared of, relying heavily on JUCO like Kansas State does. We need frosh guys to come on in and learn. And JuJu could redshirt and learn for a year perhaps?
oh the horror, you might be wrong https://twitter.com/Poly_Football/status/429471362537627650 & while I've railed on and on about how the star ratings are hardly gospel truth, it's very rare for 5* kids to Redshirt. STOMP
word is that along with concluding his speech with "Go Ducks!" he flashed an O really looking forward to Wednesday STOMP
Nations top safety 'comfortable', too Premium Story Juju Smith Juju Smith By Lindsey Thiry FOX Sports Date: Dec 7, 2013 Long Beach (Calif.) Poly athlete Juju Smith was in Corona (Calif.) on Friday night to support USC commits and good friends Viane Talamaivao and Austin Maloata... Taken directly from Scout.com
No need to say you're sorry, but let me help connect the dots. Juju & Austin definitely were not "big time buddies growing up" as up until Spring 2012 Austin lived roughly 5,000 miles away from LA on Pago Pago in American Samoa. When he moved to the States, he went to Centennial HS in Corona California, which is about 45 miles from Long Beach where Juju grew up. One of Austin's teammates on the football team was Viane Talamaivao... makes sense that they were friends like your source indicates as teammates are often friends. For a few months both AM and VT were committed to USC who was also after the highly rated Safety from Long Beach. I'm sure all 3 attended a few Trojans functions together and maybe a football camp or two. did that help? STOMP
Stomp Thanks for clearing up the fact that indeed they are good friends who drive 45 minutes to watch another play and as a "bonus" his good friend Austin just committed to the Ducks. Where did you get your info to retort? Oh yes, from me. So you're just here to nit pick a friend timeline I suppose? "Um..... Aren't Austin Maloata and JuJu Smith big time buddies growing up? I think so!" This sentence I wrote above is me asking a question and providing an opinion! If I knew they were best friends and for how long, that little thing called a question mark wouldn't have been there. But luckily for me you're here to "connect the dots" on a bunch of info you knew nothing about before I brought it up. Thanks Man!
We're gonna lose Trey L and JuJu. I just know it. Trey L has family connections in Baton Rouge, and JuJu's uncle is on USC's staff.
well, thats that then... keep the pessimism redlined thru Wednesday GP... Will your post NSD exit stage trapdoor be as graceful this year as last? A pre-emptive ty for teaching me so much yet again STOMP
a Redshirt year from Tony James? From a ridiculous after the whistle hit early on in his AA game, the O reports he suffered a broken ankle, a cracked femur and torn tendons. http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2014/02/signing_day_countdown_oregon_c_9.html him saying that he was worried that Oregon might pull his scholarship because of this only makes me want him on the team more... Go TJ! STOMP
The date on the article that STOMP posted was 12/7/13. I'm guessing that was the relevant point being made, since it was almost a month ago, and Juju has still yet to commit to USC.
