Russ Smith, Luke Hancock lead No. 12 Louisville past UCF

Style points mattered less to Louisville than achieving the bottom line of bouncing back from a tough loss.

Such was the saving grace of a victory featuring fits and starts.

Russ Smith scored 27 points and Luke Hancock added 16 to help No. 12 Louisville pull away from Central Florida 87-70 on Saturday night.

Southern Methodist Mustangs upsets No. 22 Memphis to improve to 11-0 at home

Before SMU returned to its campus home in the newly renovated Moody Coliseum, it had been 10 years since the Mustangs defeated a Top 25 opponent.

Now Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown's team has beaten two ranked teams in less than a month.

Markus Kennedy had 21 points and 15 rebounds and Nic Moore had 14 points with 10 assists, while also keying a game-turning run to start the second half, as the Mustangs stayed undefeated at home with an 87-72 victory over No. 22 Memphis on Saturday.

No. 13 Cincinnati tops USF for 14th win in a row+-+-

Sean Kilpatrick wasn't feeling good. His shot showed the symptoms.

The American Athletic Conference's top scorer was way off on Sunday, struggling through one of his toughest games. He found a little energy at the end, scoring 10 of his 18 points in the closing minutes as No. 13 Cincinnati rallied for a 50-45 victory over South Florida.

No. 24 Memphis dominates Rutgers 101-69

Memphis made a concentrated effort to pound the ball inside early, and freshman forward Austin Nichols benefited from the strategy.

Nichols scored 18 points, and Joe Jackson added 16 points and eight assists as the 24th-ranked Tigers jumped to an early lead before dominating Rutgers 101-69 on Tuesday night.

Smith leads No. 14 Louisville to win over Houston

Despite a blowout of Houston three weeks ago at home, Louisville knew that the return game wouldn't be so easy. And it wasn't.

Russ Smith scored 17 points and No. 14 Louisville weathered a second half Cougar rally to beat Houston 77-62 on Wednesday night

No. 7 Cincinnati rallies past UConn to extend win streak to 15

Even Oscar Robertson wanted to see more of the Sean Kilpatrick show.

The Hall of Famer sat courtside and watched the senior guard score 26 points and get a team-high 12 rebounds on Thursday night, rallying No. 7 Cincinnati to a 63-58 victory over No. 22 Connecticut.

SMU takes down another, stopping No. 7 Cincinnati

Moody Madness indeed, and quicker than even Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown thought.

Nick Russell had 15 points to go with a couple of big steals as SMU beat No. 7 Cincinnati 76-55 on Saturday night, ending the Bearcats' 15-game winning streak. It was the Mustangs' third win over a Top 25 team in seven games since moving back into renovated Moody Coliseum on campus five weeks ago.

Memphis closes with 10-0 run to stun Zags

Memphis coach Josh Pastner wasn't going to let No. 23 Gonzaga win on its 3-point shooting.

And while the strategy seemed at first suspect, it eventually proved the right move for the No. 24 Tigers.

Chris Crawford and Michael Dixon Jr. both had 11 points, and Memphis scored the final 10 of the game to beat Gonzaga 60-54 in a nonconference game Saturday night.

Lasan Kromah, Shabazz Napier each score 17 as UConn beats UCF

Balance and depth were more than enough to carry No. 22 Connecticut to an easy win over skidding Central Florida.

Lasan Kromah and Shabazz Napier each had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Huskies, who put five players in double figures during a 75-55 victory Sunday night.

Rutgers to pay $11.5M exit fee

Rutgers will pay an $11.5 million exit fee to leave the American Athletic Conference, the school and league announced Wednesday.

The Scarlet Knights and the AAC reached an agreement allowing Rutgers to leave the league and join the Big Ten Conference, as planned, on July 1.

The AAC sought $15 million from Rutgers, but the school was able to negotiate a lower amount because Louisville had done so a few months ago, sources told ESPN.

Memphis uses 15-2 second-half rally to beat Central Florida

Memphis wasn't supposed to struggle against a team tied for last in the American Athletic Conference. Still it took a late burst for the 20th-ranked Tigers to escape with the win.

Joe Jackson scored 18 points and Shaq Goodwin added 14 as the Tigers used a second half rally to defeat Central Florida 76-70 on Wednesday night.

Montrezl Harrell's 22 leads Louisville's rout of Temple

Rick Pitino and his Louisville players have decided to stop shaving until they next lose.

The way the Cardinals are playing, they may have some pretty impressive beards.

Montrezl Harrell scored a career-high 22 points and No. 13 Louisville built a 30-point first-half lead en route to an 82-58 victory over Temple on Friday night.

SMU gets 1st win as ranked team in 29 years

Even Larry Brown had no idea how his SMU team would play after being ranked for the first time in 29 years.

The veteran coach needn't have worried.

Nic Moore scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half, Nick Russell added 16 points and the No. 23 Mustangs prevailed 77-65 over Rutgers on Friday night to earn their first win as a ranked team since the 1984-85 season

Sean Kilpatrick, No. 10 Cincinnati shake off Houston

The game plan has become common for Cincinnati.

Play close games, and turn it over to the seniors in the end.

It worked again on Saturday for the 10th-ranked Bearcats.

Sean Kilpatrick scored 28 points, 19 in the second half, and Justin Jackson overcame foul problems to add 13 points, all in the second half, as the Bearcats shook off Houston, 73-62.

Shabazz Napier erupts for 34 as UConn tops Memphis in OT

There are plenty of great guard tandems in the American Athletic Conference.

UConn made a case Saturday that it might have the best.

Shabazz Napier scored a career-high 34 points and Ryan Boatright added 21, eight in overtime, and the 24th-ranked Huskies beat No. 20 Memphis 86-81 to sweep the season series from the Tigers.

No. 13 Louisville routs Rutgers as Luke Hancock scores career-high 25

Louisville turned all those open looks on the perimeter into a 3-point shooting clinic that even included a little-used freshman.

Luke Hancock scored a career-high 25 points, including six 3-pointers, and No. 13 Louisville throttled Rutgers in a 102-54 blowout Sunday night.

Dalton Pepper leads Temple to upset of No. 23 SMU

It's not that often that Larry Brown gets outcoached. On Sunday, he said he was by Fran Dunphy.

Dalton Pepper scored 24 points and Dunphy's Temple Owls upset Brown's No. 23 SMU Mustangs, 71-64.

No. 11 Louisville trounces USF 80-54

Missing two players with foul trouble didn't concern Louisville because other talented teammates were ready and able to fill the void in their absences.

The Cardinals' advantages in ability and depth were too much for a South Florida squad that got all of its offense from one player.

Russ Smith scored 19 points and No. 11 Louisville overcame foul troubles to run away from the Bulls 80-54 on Tuesday night.

Sean Kilpatrick, No. 7 Cincinnati dominate Central Florida

Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin didn't hide his disappointment in his team's defensive effort last week when it had to hang on after squandering a big lead against Houston.

The Bearcats appear to have learned their lesson.

Sean Kilpatrick hit six 3-pointers and scored 23 points as No. 7 Cincinnati forced 16 turnovers in dominating Central Florida during a 77-49 victory Wednesday night.
