Frank Kaminsky shines as Wisconsin beats Michigan

Wisconsin was on the verge of wasting a tremendous first half, so with Michigan rallying and the crowd roaring, the Badgers calmly went inside to Frank Kaminsky.

"I wanted the ball in my hands," the 7-footer said. "I was able to make some things happen."

Kaminsky had 25 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 21 Wisconsin smothered No. 15 Michigan in the first half before holding on for a 75-62 victory Sunday. The Wolverines cut an 18-point deficit to three in the second half, but Kaminsky personally went on a 7-2 run after that, helping Wisconsin regain control.

    Iowa-Indiana game postponed

Tuesday night's scheduled matchup between No. 15 Iowa and Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., has been postponed after a piece of metal fell from the ceiling and damaged seats at Assembly Hall hours before the game was scheduled to begin.

According to a release by the school, the beam that fell was eight feet long and just over a foot wide. Per a separate release, Indiana athletic director Fred Glass and coach Tom Crean will meet with reporters Tuesday night.

"Safety is our No. 1 priority," Glass said in the initial release. "Our university engineers have advised us to postpone events in Assembly Hall until it can be determined what caused the facing to fall and ensure the safety of everyone attending an event in the facility."

LaQuinton Ross, Nikola Cerina ejected as Ohio St. tops N'western

LaQuinton Ross apologized to his Ohio State teammates for getting involved in a scuffle that led to his ejection.

Fortunately for them, he already had done his share to help them get a win.

Ross scored 16 points to lead No. 24 Ohio State to a 76-60 victory over Northwestern on Wednesday night in a game interrupted by the late scrum.

No. 13 Michigan St. hits school-record 17 3s to soar past Purdue

Gary Harris could tell something big was coming. He didn't know it was going to be a record night.

Harris scored 25 points, Adreian Payne added 23 and No. 13 Michigan State hit a school-record 17 3-pointers in a 94-79 victory over Purdue on Thursday.

No. 16 Wisconsin finishes season sweep of No. 15 Iowa

The way Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan sees it, the 16th-ranked Badgers are playing better because they're making shots.

They're also making plays -- and Frank Kaminsky came up two huge ones to beat No. 15 Iowa on Saturday.

Kaminsky had 21 points and a crucial late steal as Wisconsin won 79-74 for its fifth straight win after a 1-5 stretch marked by poor shooting.

Sam Thompson fuels No. 24 OSU's second-half rally, win over Gophers

Coach Thad Matta was angry that his listless Ohio State Buckeyes were down by 10 points at halftime.

Still, he didn't summon any inspiring speeches or draw up fancy plays. Instead, the message was simple.

"In essence, I just said there's nothing I can draw up on the board, there's nothing we can really talk about it until we play better basketball," he said after his No. 24 Buckeyes outscored Minnesota 46-18 in the second half to roll to a 64-46 victory on Saturday night.

Will Sheehey scores career-high 30 to send Indiana past No. 20 Iowa

    - The signs held high in the Indiana student section during pregame introductions were appropriate: "You rank `em, we beat `em."

And on the same night Will Sheehey was honored for joining the 1,000-point club, he scored 19 of his career-high 30 to lead the Hoosiers over No. 20 Iowa 93-86 on Thursday in a game that was postponed last week.

Penn State holds off No. 22 Ohio State for season sweep

Penn State coach Patrick Chambers didn't think it was the matchup or the fact that it was Senior Night that allowed his Nittany Lions to beat Ohio State again.

No, it was something more basic.

"I think we were mad," Chambers said, emphasizing that his team had been thumped by Iowa and Nebraska in its previous two games. "It just happened to be Ohio State tonight. We came out and played desperate and with a sense of urgency. And we played angry."

D.J. Newbill scored 23 points, Tim Frazier added 16 and Penn State held off a late rally by No. 22 Ohio State for a 65-63 victory Thursday.

No. 16 Michigan clinches share of Big Ten title

Michigan was without Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Mitch McGary on Saturday. Former stars Glen Rice and Terry Mills filled in just fine.

On a night when the Wolverines honored their 1989 national championship team, the current squad clinched a share of the Big Ten title with a 66-56 victory over Minnesota.

Illinois stuns No. 18 Michigan State at home

Illinois is on a roll thanks in large part to its stifling defense.

Fighting Illini coach John Groce, though, is not ready to celebrate.

Tracy Abrams scored 12 points, leading Illinois to a 53-46 win over No. 18 Michigan State on Saturday.

No. 14 Wisconsin beats Penn State for seventh straight win

Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan was more than willing to let Penn State score some under the basket in exchange for shutting down the Nittany Lions' outside shooting and preventing damaging runs.

Despite being outshot and outrebounded, No. 14 Wisconsin made 13 of 14 free throws in the final 7:45 and held on for a 71-66 victory Sunday, the Badgers' seventh straight.

No. 20 Iowa snaps 3-game skid by holding off Purdue

It was a game the reeling Hawkeyes had to have.

Senior Roy Devyn Marble made sure they didn't blow it.

Marble scored 21 points with five assists, four steals and no turnovers and No. 20 Iowa snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Purdue 83-76 on Sunday.

Short-handed Indiana upsets No. 22 Ohio State

Tom Crean challenged Indiana's players to make up for the loss of his top NBA prospect Sunday.

Jeremy Hollowell and Hanner Mosquera-Perea came up with all the necessary hustle plays. Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell and Will Sheehey filled in the scoring line. Everybody else helped the defense shut out No. 22 Ohio State from 3-point range and not allow a basket from longer than 10 feet.

It was just the way Crean hoped his young team would respond to hearing that freshman Noah Vonleh would miss the game with a foot injury.

Ferrell scored 20 points and Sheehey added 19 as the suddenly hot Hoosiers hung on for a 72-64 victory, their second upset of a ranked team in four days.

Frank Kaminsky, No. 9 Wisconsin finish off Purdue for 8th straight win

Frank Kaminsky can turn a defense inside-out.

It's not often that a 7-foot center possesses the shooting touch of a guard.

Wisconsin's big man scored 22 points and went 4-of-5 from 3-point range, Traevon Jackson added 14 points, and the ninth-ranked Badgers finished off their home schedule with a 76-70 victory over Purdue on Wednesday night.

Keith Appling leads No. 22 Michigan State past No. 24 Iowa

Keith Appling scored in double figures for the first time in more than five weeks and Michigan State looked healthier than it had in months.

That was all it took for the 22nd-ranked Spartans to dominate the second half and earn an 86-76 victory over No. 24 Iowa on Thursday night.

Jordan Morgan's double-double helps Michigan thwart Indiana

Jordan Morgan isn't going to be a high NBA draft pick and he'll certainly never have his number raised to the Crisler Center rafters.

On Saturday, however, Morgan showed one more time why he'll always be remembered fondly at Michigan.

Playing his final home game, Morgan had his first double-double of the season, putting up 15 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 12 Michigan cap a night-long celebration with an 84-80 victory over Indiana.

Jon Ekey's 3-pointer in last second lifts Illinois over Iowa

Illinois didn't have any timeouts to draw up a final play so senior Jon Ekey just waited on the wing.

    His patience was paid off.

Ekey hit a deep, contested 3-pointer in the final second to lift Illinois to a 66-63 victory over No. 24 Iowa on Saturday night.

NCAA hopeful Nebraska upsets No. 9 Wisconsin

Tim Miles is tired of hearing about the old Nebraska program that made a habit of bumbling and stumbling its way through the past two decades. His players must be tired of it, too.

Shavon Shields and Terran Petteway scored 26 points apiece, and the Cornhuskers beat No. 9 Wisconsin 77-68 on Sunday night to strengthen the school's chance for its first NCAA tournament appearance since 1998.

Ohio State pulls away late, beats No. 22 Michigan State

This was a fitting way for Aaron Craft to close out his final home game.

The hard-nosed point guard led Ohio State's voracious defense down the stretch -- even diving for a big rebound in the final 25 seconds -- helping the Buckeyes rally past No. 22 Michigan State 69-67 on Sunday.

LaQuinton Ross, Aaron Craft help No. 24 Ohio State hold off Purdue

Every twist seemed to put No. 24 Ohio State on the verge of closing out Thursday's Big Ten tournament game.

Every turn put the defending tourney champ right back on the verge of becoming the victim of a stunning first-round upset.

After LaQuinton Ross and Aaron Craft combined for nine points during a key second-half spurt, No. 24 Ohio State still needed Terone Johnson to miss a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to hang on for a 63-61 victory over struggling Purdue.
