Talbot starting. I don't love that move against that team of forwards.

MSL back with Richards, something I have been asking for.

Carcillo practicing with Stepan and Nash???

    The PP units are (Zipay):
    -Zuccarello, Brassard, Pouliot, McDonagh, Richards
-St. Louis, Nash, Stepan, Girardi, Diaz

At Rangers practice in Calgary today the lines are (Steve Zipay):
-Dan Carcillo, Derek Stepan, Rick Nash
-Carl Hagelin, Brad Richards, Marty St. Louis
-Benoit Pouliot, Derick Brassard, Mats Zuccarello
-Brian Boyle, Dominic Moore, Derek Dorsett

JT Miller is skating as the extra forwards. (Rangers)

John Moore is skating as an extra defenseman as well. (Rangers)

Carcillo skating on the first line is a joke. St. Louis after much love from ranger fans now needs a swift kick in the balls.

If AV seriously puts Carcillo on the first line, then Sather should call him up and give him his walking papers because it would be obvious he has no idea what he's doing out there.

I actually thought Miller was solid the other night. He should play with Pouliot and Brassard, and put MZA with Step and Nash. You cannot play Dorsett AND Carcillo over Miller IMO.

We need this game to calm things down again, and firmly for sure lock in worst case 3rd in the Met. We double so need this game if Philly beats Boston this afternoon, otherwise we can say good-bye to home ice.

St. Louis back with Richards is a good move. He should never have been with Nash, they are both natural RWs and to get both of then going they need to be comfortable. I'd have Zucc with Nash if it was me, Zucc is the one winger we have who has seemed comfortable on both sides this year. He's also the guy whose line has always been going. Remember earlier in the year when Kreider-Stepan-Zucc was our best line.

I won't believe Carcillo is on the top line until I see it because that just makes zero sense. I've noticed a few times this year where the morning lines don't match up to the game time lines. Lets hope AV is just spicing things up for practice. Miller needs to be in the game. Hell I'd even play Haggery there before Carcillo.

We agree 100% Prod. Play MZA with Step and Nash. Then play Miller with Brass and Pouliot.

If they can't beat one of the worst teams in the league at this point in the season they have bigger issues than tonight's lines.

Depends on whether or not they go for a garbage time field goal or not.

Boston gives us a little help today. YES we all would have liked it better if Boston didn't allow a bad bounce goal with 30 seconds left to tie it, but the Flyers have a home game go away, don't get an ROW, and only come away with 1 point. That is all good for us.

Now we need to win tonight period end of story. If we do we are back in a solid spot, 2 up on the Flyers and with 2 more ROW's assuming we win in regulation or OT (Flyers would have two games in hand).

Plus the Flyers have now played two more home games than road games, and their next 3 are at the Blues, home against CBJ, and at the Bruins, that is very difficult. This is the time for us to put away home ice against the Flyers. Win tonight and I will feel good about that again.

Alain Vigneault said yesterday that he was 75% sure that the lines for tonight against Edmonton would be (Daily News):
-Dan Carcillo, Derek Stepan, Rick Nash
-Carl Hagelin, Brad Richards, Marty St. Louis
-Benoit Pouliot, Derick Brassard, Mats Zuccarello
-Brian Boyle, Dominic Moore, Derek Dorsett

JT Miller will be a healthy scratch.

Alain Vigneault said that he wanted to put St. Louis back with Richards and Hagelin since those two are playing well. (Daily News):

So Talbot in goal and Carcillo on the 1st line. Good stuff in a very big game for us. I like splitting up MSL and Nash, but not sure about the rest. I think he sees Carcillo as someone who can do the front of the net work for Nash and Stepan.

Guess we'll find out if it works tonight.

As for MSL, I really think the dude just needs to shoot more. He appears to always be looking to pass. Have a scorers mentality, and if that isn't open then look to pass.

I don't really have a problem with Talbot. Hank has been stellar and let up a brutal goal the other night. Talbot has played well, hasn't been playing much and its the Oilers for crying out loud. They already beat us at MSG, they need to win this game.

Carcillo on the top line is the head scratcher. St Louis needs to score an effing goal enough is enough

Agree chuck and also not get knocked down every time someone breathes on him. Wish he had some of Zucc's feistiness. The hobbit rules. LOL

I like the move to Talbot for this game, give Lundqvist a break and then go with him the rest of the way. Maybe Carcillo gives the top line a jolt of energy.

Tonight is a huge game IMO. I guess they are all pretty huge now, but to beat the Flyers in a monster game Wednesday night, and then follow that up with L's at Calgary and Edmonton would be very disheartening. And if we lose I think Philly will get the home ice almost for sure. We really need to win this game tonight.

No excuses...we lost to them last time, which should increase the focus, and the Oilers are the 2nd worst team in the NHL...no excuses...we need this W.

They don't usually play well in Edmonton so maybe with Talbot in net they'll have a little extra focus, which shouldn't be the case but it seems like it.
