Exactly this! How many other missed calls were there on Howard that they should have made but swallowed the whistle?
The Trail Blazers should email this to Silver
I did receive a reply. It was thoughtful, well-reasoned, and showed me how wrong my analysis was. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=8871512&postcount=23
By posting that Freeland shouldn't have been called for a foul on Howard after a missed FT, I have been put into detention. All of my posts must be approved by moderators before they will be put on the board. #NorthKoreanClutchFans.net
Hey, I'll be the first to admit it was a shit call. It was obviously on Freeland. That being said, Howard should have fouled out the previous play.
It's the old reliable. Want to even out a series? Get the best players in foul trouble. Probably both Dame and LA will get two quick ones.
Or how about Garcia walking around the key for 7 seconds, not calling a timeout, then getting a foul called. BEST CASE SCENARIO for that play should have been a jump ball. Or we could talk about Howard taking 6 steps before throwing up an over the back layup that garnered a foul. Seriously, I don't see how the refs can apologize for one call in this game.
Damn, shows what I know. I thought there was a lot more than one missed call in that game last night. I actually remember getting really upset about how crappy the refs were. Looks like I was wrong.
The NBA only issues 'apologies' for blown calls at the end of games (or in calls that results in player ejections, etc), right or wrong. I guess they realize that if they issued apologies for everything the officials got wrong their press release would be longer than War and Peace. It's not going to be any easier for the Blazers in game 2, that's for sure. If guys get into foul trouble the bench needs to step up and earn their paychecks.
Did they issue a similar statement re the Howard travel or bullshit Lopez tech or bullshit fouling Lopez out or the times Howard clubbed Lopez in the chest and stomach?
