I think the difference is they've been looking for an excuse to get rid of Sterling. Also, trading owners doesn't mess with the league as they're invisible.

Let's put it this way: If Kevin Love, Dirk Nowitski or any other white star said those things, they would have fined him, made him attend "sensitivity" training and suspended him for a few games.

I not a math major but 24 out of 29 seems to be more then 3/4 vote. I don't see it being hard to get that many though.

I'd say the biggest difference is that an owner can keep his vote secret.

How about starting with an actual english sentence - ooooh, burn. OK, not really. I finally figured out what you meant. I will be kind and assume you haven't made a poll before. The system posts your thread, and then allows you to make a poll so there is a delay. In this case, I wanted to word the poll semi-carefully so the delay was actually 3 or 4 minutes.

Let's stick to the real controversies for now, and keep the agitating language on other topics to the OT section.

In Sterling's mind, I think he's really already lost. He could have sold the team for a ridiculous amount of money at any point in the past 2 years. But what would he spend it on that he can't already buy? It's not about the money. It's about the celebrity, the fun, the excitement, the prestige....the relevance. Relevance is a big factor when you are 81.

He's a joke now, and he must know it. Even if he weren't banned from attending, there's no way he'd ever show his face at a Clippers game anyway. Even if he keeps the team, where's the joy in showing up to games and constantly having fans, players and other owners glare at you and mutter "asshole" under their breath?

How can it be as detrimental to the NBA if 2 out of 3 states ban gay marriage? As a country we have not reached a point where a vast majority of people are in support of same sex marriage. I think current polling shows around 51% of people in favor and 40% not in favor. However, there are no laws which, on their face, are explicitly racist, although they may have a disparate impact on particular groups. The social opprobrium attached to being racist and being homophobic aren't the same.

If he gets at or below market value for the team and that happens semiquickly.

Agreed. She is an better then ok pull for a 81 year old man unless he is a multi-bazillion-aire in which case Sterling must have picked the first one that offered.

At market value should be at least a billion. That is a lot of dough. I think it goes even over market value due to the way sales have gone lately. SEA guy would love to buy the team even if he couldn't move it right away.

It is over now. The NBA owners have the clause built in with 2/3 majority and the support of the players association as well as the fanbase. He's toast.

This is what I think happens too.

Chris Hanson is gonna jump on this.

I really can't wait for a Sonics-Blazers rivalry with the amount of stars both teams will have... Almost would be as good as if the Sonics never left.

Agreed. I always thought the NBA to have laws which allow it to protect itself from behavior which will tarnish its name. Associating with Sterling has drastic financial consequences and the NBA has a right to protect itself.

Ah, that's what happened. It looks like I was too quick on the draw. I've made a couple of polls, but not frequently enough to know in what order it appears.

As for my typo...oops. Obviously, I meant to write "if" instead of "is".

wouldnt Sterling's alleged transgressions and Whatever Player(s) you are referring to, have to had similar transgressions for it to be a double standard?

Yeah man... And the last thing we need are a bunch of NBA players sitting out the playoffs or "regular season" because they don't feel like the commish didn't back them.
