No. 1 Arizona dominates Gonzaga to reach Sweet 16

Arms waving and legs churning, Arizona is racing back into the Sweet 16.

The rest of the bracket should take notice of this one. If they play like this, the Wildcats are going to be awfully tough to beat.

Overwhelming Gonzaga with its contest-everything defense, Arizona looked very much like the top seed in the West, blowing out the Bulldogs 84-61 on Sunday to reach the Sweet 16 for the third time in four years.

Nick Johnson, Arizona rally, then hold off SDSU

Nick Johnson put an awful first half behind him and came up big for Arizona in the final 2:45.

The Pac-12 player of the year scored all of his 15 points over that span after missing his first 10 shots and helped Arizona hold off San Diego State 70-64 on Thursday night to reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.

    Agent alleges he paid Honeycutt

A former agent says that he paid ex-UCLA basketball player Tyler Honeycutt more than $55,000 from 2009-2011, and that Honeycutt eventually signed with another agent.

Noah Lookofsky told SBNation.com that he paid Honeycutt and his mother from the time Honeycutt was about to enter his senior year of high school through his two years at UCLA. SB Nation reported it looked through 56 pages of documents that included copies of receipts, deposit slips, travel itineraries and a deposited check, among other items. Lookofsky also said he paid the rent for Honeycutt's mother, Lisa Stazel, for a year after she lost her job.

UCLA said in a statement to SBNation that it was alerted to the possible extra benefits in June 2011 and notified the Pac-12 and NCAA. The school said that after a four-month investigation, neither Lookofsky nor Honeycutt would cooperate and, lacking evidence, it closed the case. UCLA disassociated itself from Honeycutt. Given the new information, UCLA said it contacted the Pac-12 and NCAA again, and Lookofsky declined to be interviewed.

    Cuonzo Martin accepts Cal job

California has hired Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin to replace Mike Montgomery and will announce the hire at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

Martin has spent the past three seasons in Knoxville and led the Volunteers to the NCAA tournament this season. He was previously the coach at Missouri State.

Montgomery, a former longtime Stanford coach, retired last month after six seasons in Berkeley. Cal was 21-14 this season and will lose seniors Justin Cobbs and Richard Solomon.

Cal hasn't hired a head coach that spent the previous season as the head coach at another major conference school since 1954 when it brought in Pete Newell of Michigan State, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Newell went on to win the school's only national championship in 1959.

Ducks ban 3 from team activities

Oregon Ducks junior guard Damyean Dotson has been suspended following a rape investigation in which the Lane County District Attorney's office has decided not to prosecute due to a lack of evidence.

Dotson, along with teammates Dominic Artis and Brandon Austin, are not participating in team activities, the school announced on Monday. Artis and Austin were involved in the case and named in a police report that was obtained by ESPN.com from the Eugene Police Department.

However, the Oregonian obtained information that the district attorney's office did not investigate Artis and Austin for an incident that occurred on the night of March 8 -- and has decided not to file a case on Dotson due to "insufficient evidence to prove charge(s) beyond a reasonable doubt."

    Oregon State fires Craig Robinson

Oregon State has fired Craig Robinson, the school announced on Monday.

Robinson, the brother-in-law of President Barack Obama, had three years remaining on his contract. He was 94-105 in six seasons in Corvallis, making him the fourth-winningest coach in school history.

The Beavers, however, failed to make the NCAA tournament or even the NIT in his tenure.

"I want to thank Coach Robinson and his family for their contributions to Oregon State University," said athletic director Bob De Carolis in a statement released by the school. "This was a difficult decision, but after further evaluation, I believe it is in the best interests of our student-athletes, our basketball program and our University."

Robinson will receive a buyout of $4 million -- or 10 times Obama's salary of $400,000.

    Kameron Rooks has ACL surgery

California sophomore center Kameron Rooks is likely out for all of next season after having surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Golden Bears coach Cuonzo Martin said in a statement Thursday that the injury is "very unfortunate." He says it's difficult to predict when Rooks will return, though typical recovery time can take up to a year.

Beavers freshman Chai Baker in ICU

An Oregon State athletic department spokesman says a freshman member of the men's basketball team suffered "an apparent cardiac-related medical incident" and is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

In a statement Wednesday, spokesman Shawn Schoeffler said Chai Baker suffered the cardiac event Tuesday morning as he worked out with teammates during informal preseason drills at the school's basketball center.

Taylor leads No. 25 Utah over Ball State 90-72

Strong defense and explosive offense are things Utah hopes to build its basketball identity around this season. It took the Utes a little while to find a rhythm in both areas in their season opener.

Utah found itself locked in a closer-than-expected battle with Ball State in the second half. It wasn't until the final five minutes before the No. 25 Utes finally pulled away for a 90-72 victory on Friday night.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, defense lead No. 2 Arizona

Arizona coach Sean Miller got the tough test he wanted, and his team passed with flying colors.

Miller said he scheduled Cal-Irvine because he knew the Anteaters were a strong, big, experienced team.

And Cal-Irvine showed it until the No. 2 Wildcats dominated the final 10 minutes for a 71-54 victory on Wednesday night.

    T.J. Leaf commits to Arizona

Arizona is pushing for the No. 1 recruiting class in 2015, but the Wildcats are already off to a great start on 2016 too.

Five-star junior T.J. Leaf committed to Arizona on Wednesday.

"It was a lot of reasons," Leaf told ESPN.com. "For one, I have a great relationship with all the coaches there, including coach [Sean] Miller. That's a big plus. Their style of play, how they use their 4s, interchangeable with their 3s, that's what I want. And I have the opportunity to come in and make an impact as a freshman."

Leaf's list of finalists included Florida, UCLA, Duke and Michigan, although the Gators and Bruins were the other primary options.
