Maybe they did it so blazer fans have something to pay attention to because they don't plan on doing anything in the draft.
Erik Gundersen @blazerbanter about 2 hours ago Wojnarowski: Blazers Offer LaMarcus Aldridge 3-Year Contract Extension, Aldridge Unlikely To Sign This Summer wp.me/p3CpBY-XA
Oh boo hoo I suggested a multi millionaire retire early after being greedy and screwing over the franchise that made him a multi millionaire and a celebrity. Its all about loyalty. All theoretically.
no way you spin your words... this is not a suggestion, nor is it hoping he retires early. it's hoping a man gets injured... badly. troll, joking, it doesn't matter. No one should ever says something like this. Way to pull attention from the draft and put it on you. reminds me of the old blazer forums more now.
This is not the draft thread is about LA essentially declining 55 million dollars because he wants to make 100 million.
I'm thrilled to hear this news. Well deserved and shows a lot of class from the organization and Paul Allen. Shout out to LA! Hope he retires a Blazer at 40
Spoken like a true blind fan who doesn't care about winning as long as his favorite player is on the team.
It would be news if LMA wasn't offered the early max. Why is this even being discussed? It was reported on 1080 the Fan earlier this week that LMA had met with the team.
I didn't know it had been done. Frankly, i'm glad it's out. It kind of forces LMA's hand a bit, which may not make him happy. I'm sure he wants 5/maxmax. I'm sure Olshey doesn't want to put 23M/yr into him in his mid-30's. Extension max seems a good compromise, and it gives Olshey a read on LMA's hand. If they think he's worth the 3yr Max, then get him signed and let's move on. If they don't (or he doesn't sign), don't lose him for nothing.
Why would he guarantee a re-sign when he doesn't even know what Portland will offer him? What a stupid way to negotiate a contract. "No matter what, I'll be back! Wait, you're not offering me a max contract or a 5-year deal? Oh well, I can't go back on my word!"
I think Portland should announce that they will offer LMA the 5-year max next summer, no matter what happens this season. If they don't, then they're not 100% on board with LMA, and that's a problem.
That's a false choice that leaves out the 5-year max. If he declines the 3-year max, you'd trade him? That's an idiotic idea. As i said, it would have been news had the 3-year extension not been offered. It's a formality. LOL
