32G. I use a lot of apps. Half the memory is songs, but I can stream my entire collection to the phone via wifi or 4G. Or I can stream to my Apple TV, or laptop, etc.
The memory is used for everything from your browser cache to tapatalk data to messages to pictures. I seriously use my phone for many tasks. I have taken well over 1,000 pictures in the past couple years. I use it as an iPod when I walk (generally 4 miles a day or more). To keep up with the site when I'm away from a computer, to track my food intake, to track my miles walked and calories burned, to keep up with my email, to watch basketball games when I'm away from home (live box score or NBA LP), to buy movie tickets, to pay for starbucks, as a flashlight (in a pinch), etc. Having a general purpose notepad in the cloud is invaluable. Any time I add something to a note, it's there on my iPad, my laptop, etc. So if I see a recipe I want to make, I copy/paste the ingredients into notes on my laptop then use the note via my phone while at the grocery store.
iOS8 is coming out really soon. Then your pictures will all be in the cloud so you won't need the RAM for it. If you don't send text messages a lot, you won't need so much memory either. I take pictures and text them to people a lot.
The next generation iphone is strongly rumored to be out in September (supposedly Sep 19), just a couple months away. You might want to wait for that, if you go the iphone route. My previous phone was an Android and my current phone is an iphone. If you're a tech geek and willing/excited to mess around with your phone, then the Samsung is probably the way to go. Personally, I just want the phone to work and not require my time to fix things, which means that I've been MUCH happier with the iphone. Revise: if you don't go with the new iphone 6, I'm guessing the 5s price will go down when the new model is released.
I figured the next iPhone was coming out soon because they have greatly reduced the cost of the iphone 5s. I can get a 5s for $100 at costco. I'm pissed because they had it for $78 over the weekend and it went back up. Either way, I don't want to spend $200 or $300 on the new one when it comes out. Plus I'm sure it will be hard to get one.
I don't really want to spend $200 or $300 though. If I'm going to spend that much, I'll just get the next Samsung.
I'm amazed you actually had to ask this question, as if HCP doesn't post here with his baller ass iPhone 5s fams
Right now, yes. I figured this was an inexpensive way to try out an iPhone. I don't want to drop $200 or $300 on something I might hate. Does that make sense?
What network are you on? T-Mobile now lets you try out a iPhone 5s for free for a week on their network. Not really sure how it works, but it'd give you a week to decide if you like it or not. If you do, go with iPhone on whatever network you are on. If you don't you won't waste your money (a lot more than $100 since you are locked into your contract where you pay more than the full price over the course of 2 years).
I'm on Verizon. It sucks because I hate the company, but dammit if they don't have the best coverage.
I mean, see if you can tryout the T-Mobile thing for a week. Not to see if you like the network, but if you like the phone. It's completely free (they do put a hold on your CC in case you run away after the week).
Well...that is the price of the phone. Phones don't cost $100/$200, even though 75% of the population thinks that they do.
It's like healthcare man. They just make up a cost, but they sell the phones for $100/$200 when you sign up. Who the hell actually buys one of these phones for $600?
