Bulls starting lineup would be Rose, Snell, McBuckets, Love, and Noah.

Pau, Brooks, Kurt, Mirotic, Bairstow on the bench

I completely agree! At first, when I first read the trade, I thought, Hell no! Then I stepped back and thought about this... we add Love, and all we really lose is Gibson! Mirotic, and Doug have not played a game for us yet! We lose Boozer, Augustin off of a 48 win team. Add Rose, Brooks, Love, Gasol! Rose is much better than Augustin. Brooks is much better than James! lol. Love is a hell of a lot better than Boozer, and Gasol is just as important as Gibson was off of the bench, if not more so this year! And a ton better than Nazr.

I make this trade every day of the week. Build on Rose/Love. Both still young.

Several tweets were made today that Minny loves the Bulls package more.

Bullsville, you could be right. Could be Minny trying to raise the bar on the Cavs.

Also a tweet today that Mirotic was told he was not going to be traded.

Also Gibson was told not to listen to trade rumors. He wasn't told he was not going to be traded. lol

Maybe later on tonight, I will post them.

We could add Marion for the minimum as well if this team interests him.

You left out MDJ, he would start if Doug is traded.

Another reason why we do this trade. It keeps Love from going to Cleveland!

Also it makes Cleveland offer more if they think we may get him! Either way we benefit!

Dunleavy was in the trade I posted. So he'd be on Minny.

I wonder if this is more leverage by Minnesota to inflate the offer by Cleveland or Golden State.

I can't see us going from trading up for McDermott because we really wanted him to flipping him for Love.

Vintage, it could be. We don't have to trade for Love. We have the pieces in place already, and if what we read is true, we would still be a very good team with him if the trade goes through! We have nothing to lose.

I hope Cleveland sends more! It will hurt their depth.

From Minny's perspective, I'd rather have one top 11 pick than two mid range first rounders.

I think we might have offered both 1st rounders for Love in the first place, if we ever did make some kind of offer.

The same source that I used in my article, they told me that back when he was still negotiating his buyout, but I don't know if they told ChiBullsZone back then or today. I think CBZ reported the same thing back then but I could be wrong.

With the $600k the Bulls paid toward his buyout, he was paid the highest first-year salary ($5.905 million) for any rookie ever since 1995, when the NBA put in the rookie scale. The closest will be Wiggins, who can sign for $5,510,640.

The Chicago Bulls have offered a package of Taj Gibson and rookies Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic to the Minnesota Timberwolves for All-Star forward Kevin Love, a league source told SheridanHoops.com on Wednesday.

The package is extremely intriguing to the Timberwolves, but there is a catch; it cannot be completed for another 29 days because McDermott and Mirotic signed their rookie contracts Tuesday. NBA rules prohibit rookies from being traded within the first 30 days of inking their rookie deals.

    Sam Amick @sam_amick

Even before chatter about Bulls' offer (see @sheridanhoops), some close to situation had been saying Love would likely wind up in Chicago

Tweet was done about noon central time

The Bulls aren't trading Mirotic, but I've heard they could be getting in as the 3rd team. MIN wants to move Martin, but doesn't want Cleveland's junk, they only want Bennett and Wiggins and picks. Minnesota has 14 players on their roster right now after signing Robbie Hummell today so they can't take back the non-guaranteed contracts that Cleveland just traded for unless they move Turiaf.

And Cleveland can't take back Love by just trading Bennett and the 3 non-guaranteed contracts, they need to send out more salary, and Brendan Haywood would work perfectly.

If MIN can get Wiggins, Gibson, and Bennett, plus the draft picks they would get from Cleveland, they would do it. Obviously.

If CLE can get Love for Wiggins, Bennett, Haywood and their non-guaranteed contracts, they would do it. Obviously.

If the Bulls can trade Taj and get Kevin Martin, Brendan Haywood, John Lucas III and Malcolm Thomas, they would do it.

We'd get KMart to start at SG and move Butler to SF. They would replace Taj's defense with Haywood's, and Lucas and Thomas are non-guaranteed. Plus, Haywood has a $10 million non-guaranteed contract for next season, that could come in real handy next summer.

McGraws take on a possible Love trade.

Kevin Love to the Bulls doesn't make a ton of sense.

I've talked about this several times before. The clear trend in the NBA is perimeter stars win championships. San Antonio, Miami and Boston were outside-oriented. The Lakers won two titles with the standard, two-star format – one inside (Pau Gasol) and one outside (Kobe Bryant).
Love, Gasol and Joakim Noah on the same roster would give the Bulls a powerful rebounding game, but that hasn't been a championship formula in recent years. Miami won two titles as one of the league's worst rebounding teams.

The unbalanced roster could create issues. Love, Gasol and Noah can't play at the same time, but would be paid roughly $35 million this season. That would leave limited means to add perimeter scorers and if Derrick Rose gets hurt again, the Bulls would be the northern version of the Memphis Grizzlies – good team, but a few shooters short of title contention.

So why did the Bulls intensify efforts to trade for Love this week? Sheridanhoops.com suggested the Bulls have offered Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic to Minnesota.
Personally, I don't think this is a great idea. But after doing some research, here's some insight into why the Bulls have taken this path.

One insider described Love as a “rebound date,” pun partially intended. The Bulls felt they were close to having a championship-caliber team when they missed out on Carmelo Anthony. So they'll try to keep that feeling alive by targeting the summer's third-best available player (after LeBron and Carmelo).

If the rumor is true, why offer McDermott and Mirotic in a trade when 3-point shooting is one of the Bulls' biggest weaknesses? This answer requires some faith, but the feeling is Mike Dunleavy and Tony Snell can provide enough outside shooting, especially if the big man trio can pull defenders toward the basket.

If the Bulls pulled off this trade, at the very least they'd have two 25-year-old stars – Love and Rose – as a foundation for the future. Maybe they could strike fast and get to the Finals this season, while LeBron James adjusts to a young supporting cast in Cleveland.

The Bulls aren't necessarily trying to keep Love away from the Cavs, but the competition forces them to act quickly. They can't sit back and wait to see how the season unfolds, because Love might be a long-term Cavalier by then.

We could be involved. I have read that as well. Some Bulls fans might wonder why do we help Cleveland get Love? Isnt that like shooting ourselves in the foot?

Truth is, we have 4 bigs and just so many minutes to play all 4. (Sorry to Bairstow for not including him) We trade Gibson, dunleavy to minny, we get more balance back.

Ralph at Realgm says we could get Waiters, Martin, and Thompson for Gibson and Dunleavy. I think that is too ambishous, but you can see his thinking here. It solves all of our problems. And it frees up Mirotic to play significant minutes at the 4.

We have come on strong because we want something. If its Love! Fantastic!! If we cause Clevelend to gut their team more! Wonderful! We lose nothing. If Minny trades Martin here and we get something players from Cleveland and maybe TT as well, Great!!

We have a good team if we do nothing. So why not try?

Kevin Love took 6.6 3pt shots per game at a .376 clip. 82games.com says he took 66% of his shots as jump shots and only 28% close. He's not going to be drawing defenders toward the basket.

If anything, the question should be how well he and Noah would play together since neither one is a back to the basket kind of big.
