Then if you move to Seattle, get a house on Mercer Island. You pay a bit extra but have your own private lanes to get into/away from Seattle. It will save you years of driving stress. Also has great school district. Although there are portions that are only for mega millionaires, there are also large portions for the regular Joe schmo millionaire.
Look into Vancouver. The commute is not that bad. My company moved most of its operation from San Jose to Austin. I do not think I heard a single complaint.
My brother lives there, I'll be there tomorrow. It's not all fancy, houses from 700k to 25mil, depends on where you live and if you have waterfront.
http://taxfoundation.org/article/2014-state-business-tax-climate-index 47 states are more business friendly. Wyoming is number 1.
I second that traffic nomination. Worse damn place I know, the only place where they will drive neck and neck for miles using up all four lanes doing less than the limit.
Magnifier, you need access to the large Canadian market from Bellingham. My next door neighbors are even moving out in a few months.
What i'm hearing is that your three votes matter and everyone else can go to hell, coincidentally that is exactly what Miami would feel like 10 months out of the year.
I meant, "So you could be my neighbor!" Looking at it now, I see it could be taken as, "Everyone's moving out of here."
Mags -- I'm in the Seattle area and know the local tech startup world pretty well. Keep in mind that while the main hub for companies is downtown (South Lake Union to Pioneer Square), there are also areas outside of town worth taking a look at. Redmond, Bellevue and Kirkland all have a fair number of companies. There's also a biotech/med device cluster up in Bothell (which is where I work.) Your company is ag-based, if I remember right, and I think Bothell could be a pretty good fit with the companies around there. Definitely feel free to send a pm if you want more scoop. Edit: traffic's an issue in certain areas and not others. I live in Seattle near the zoo and commute up to Bothell (15 miles or so) pretty easily. Mornings are never a problem. The way home is bad only if there's a big event and sometimes on Fridays when the the suburb people invade.
I figured the fact that Mags would have access to legal pot would make moving to WA an easy no-brainer.
I don't smoke pot, I do psychedelics. Some may want to classify weed as a psychedelic, but it's mainly psychoactive mood enhancer.
