    - No. 7 Wisconsin is getting its leading scorer back after 7-footer Frank Kaminsky was cleared to return to practice on Tuesday following a concussion.

The preseason All-American sat out Sunday's 67-62 loss at Rutgers with the injury. Kaminsky said he started feeling concussion symptoms after taking an elbow to the head in the first half of last week's 62-55 win over Purdue.

Wisconsin's Traevon Jackson will have surgery on his injured right foot this week, depriving the seventh-ranked Badgers of their veteran point guard in Big Ten play.

Jackson was hurt in Sunday's 67-62 loss at Rutgers. He is scheduled to have surgery on Thursday.

The team said Monday that Jackson will begin rehab in two or three weeks, but did not specify when he might return to the court. Jackson said in a statement that he was looking forward to finishing off the year. He was averaging 9.4 points and 2.9 assists.

Indiana forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea will be out indefinitely with a knee injury he suffered during practice Monday, the Hoosiers announced Tuesday.

Serving as the lone big man in an undermanned frontcourt, Mosquera-Perea has started in all 16 of Indiana's games this season, and is averaging 7.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and a team-high 1.6 blocks in 20.9 minutes per game.

Despite an inconsistent start to his career, the junior forward has been Indiana's most reliable frontcourt piece in 2014-15. In November, Indiana lost freshman forward Devin Davis after he jumped in front of a car driven by teammate Emmitt Holt. Davis was hospitalized until Nov. 19 with a traumatic brain injury. He has recovered and started individual workouts, but there is no timetable for his return.

Wisconsin got Frank Kaminsky back and might have found a capable replacement for Traevon Jackson.

Kaminsky scored 22 points in his return from a concussion that sidelined him a game to help No. 7 Wisconsin beat Nebraska 70-55 on Thursday night.

As the clock ticked toward zero, Maryland freshman Melo Trimble had one sensational play left to make in a remarkable first half.

Dribbling the ball to the top of the key, Trimble performed a crossover dribble so impressive that his defender, Lourawls Nairn Jr., lost his balance. Trimble then buried the 3-point shot as the buzzer sounded, bringing an even higher level of volume from the sellout crowd of 17,950.

With Trimble leading the way, No. 14 Maryland breezed past Michigan State 75-59 Saturday to sweep the season series and gain sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.

With his team leading by double digits at halftime, Wisconsin's Josh Gasser tried to give the Badgers some extra motivation in the locker room.

Don't let up, he pleaded; play hard the full 40 minutes.

The sixth-ranked Badgers listened to their senior leader. Frank Kaminsky had 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Wisconsin relied on tough defense to rout No. 25 Iowa 82-50 on Tuesday night.

Indiana sent a message to the Big Ten on Thursday night.

It's back -- and it's not going away any time soon.

Yogi Ferrell scored 24 points, James Blackmon Jr. added 22 and the 23rd-ranked Hoosiers made a season high 15 3-pointers to stun No. 13 Maryland 89-70.

Frank Kaminsky and his Wisconsin Badgers kept their cool after a last-second shot sent them to overtime.

Kaminsky scored eight of his 22 points in the extra session, and No. 6 Wisconsin held off Michigan 69-64 on Saturday night. The Wolverines tied the game on Derrick Walton's 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left in regulation, but the Badgers went right back to their 7-footer, and Kaminsky put Wisconsin ahead to stay with a three-point play to open the scoring in overtime.

Rapheal Davis had just enough going his way to be a nuisance for No. 25 Iowa, but he isn't looking for the credit.

Davis scored 16 of his 24 points in the first half to lead the Purdue Boilermakers to a 67-63 victory over the Hawkeyes on Saturday.

The 13th-ranked basketball team in the country shouldn't require a furious comeback and a very fortunate tip-in to beat a struggling squad at home.

Maryland coach Mark Turgeon knows this. Yet he had absolutely no complaints after the Terrapins did exactly that to squeeze past Northwestern 68-67 on Sunday night.

After a tough win Thursday at Northwestern, Thad Matta was hesitant to say that Ohio State might be hitting its stride.

Sunday afternoon, Matta was willing to grant that things are trending in that direction. Freshman D'Angelo Russell scored 22 points and added 10 assists for his second double-double of the season and the Buckeyes (16-5, 5-3 Big Ten) knocked off No. 23 Indiana 82-70 in front of 17,322 fans at Value City Arena for their first winning streak in conference play.

    - Purdue coach Matt Painter kept imploring his team to play better defense.

He finally got a glimpse at the result Wednesday night.

The Boilermakers clamped down on the Big Ten's best scoring team by harassing Indiana's shooters into tough shots and poor decisions, as Purdue ran away from its biggest rival 83-67.

Ohio State coach Thad Matta had been wondering about his team's toughness.

    Not anymore.

Marc Loving matched his career high with 19 points and D'Angelo Russell added 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead Ohio State to an 80-56 victory over No. 16 Maryland on Thursday night.

Frank Kaminsky wasn't letting another second-half lead get away from No. 5 Wisconsin.

Kaminsky had 24 points and nine rebounds and the Badgers locked in defensively during the second half en route to a 74-63 win over Iowa on Saturday. Coach Bo Ryan called the consecutive road wins over Michigan and Iowa "huge" for his team.

Indiana finally found a remedy Saturday for its recent ailments.

    Defense.

After another sluggish start by the No. 22 Hoosiers, they locked in, buckled down and allowed just three baskets over the final seven minutes to rally for a 72-64 victory over Rutgers.

Trying to stop Frank Kaminsky would be a tough enough task alone for most teams.

The unique predicament posed by No. 5 Wisconsin is that the 7-footer has two frontcourt running mates who can make life in the paint just as miserable for opponents.

Kaminsky scored 23 points and shot 9 of 12 from the field, Nigel Hayes added 16 points on 5-of-5 shooting and the big men led the Badgers to a 92-78 win on Tuesday night over undersized Indiana.

Jon Graham enjoyed the best game of his college career against the school where it all began.

Graham scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half, and No. 17 Maryland edged Penn State 64-58 Wednesday night to avert its first losing streak of the season.

Purdue coach Matt Painter has his Boilermakers rekindling welcome memories.

They're playing lockdown defense. They're beating opponents to loose balls. And, yes, they're even beating ranked teams with regularity.

Rapheal Davis scored 20 points Wednesday, and a stout defense rescued Purdue from its own free-throw shooting woes to barely hold on for a 60-58 upset over No. 20 Ohio State.

Cool under pressure, Bronson Koenig has proven to be more than a suitable fill-in at point guard for No. 5 Wisconsin.

The sophomore has helped the Badgers keep humming along in the Big Ten while starter Traevon Jackson recovers from right foot surgery.

Koenig scored a career-high 16 points, Sam Dekker also had 16 and Wisconsin won its sixth straight by beating Northwestern 65-50 on Saturday.
