USC crushed it today as we all expected, and I'm sure their boosters are sending way more than the yearly fine selection of cheeses, whine and fruit baskets to Junipero Serra High football staff for it! UCLA also came in and made it interesting with USC for at least a few hours it seems. UCLA is getting the kind of players and overall image a coach like Mora seems to embrace. Jamabo looks like a fine young man who could share an ego maniac carpool with Vanderchicken and Snoop's Kid doesn't he? It's amazing to think what a coach can do to a great schools overall public image in 4 years or less. Beating USC and "Maybe" one day winning the Pac is going to cost UCLA the institution a bunch something tells me. These two schools combined for 26 of the top 300 players. It seems these kids parents beyond wanting them close, really enjoy traveling to the Frito and Clam Chips Bowls yearly. Sark and Mora have all the talent they need now. Over under they both lose 3 games next year? Back to our Ducks, no surprises, I am interested to see if we get a late day commit from Adams. The PJ Locke situation seemed a little sketchy, but this is the used car salesmen month of the year in college football so anything can happen.
One of my favorite parts of following recruiting is the Duck NSD presser where Oregon's HC gets to talk about the new signees for the first time. Recruits only reveal so much about themselves and the process, so it's always great to hear from the other side. This year (as always) a whole lot of info gems are revealed by Helfrich. hopefully this link works for y'all... I've already listened to the 46 minutes twice. If not, I'm sure it will be available via other sources soon. https://ct.yimg.com/mr/uploads/1065\1652355.mp3 STOMP
Junipero Serra High is located 12 miles from USC's campus. No booster support is needed to get the local kids interested in the program... most South Eugene HS kids grow up wanting to be Ducks too. It's not a big conspiracy STOMP
for regular students, yes. For D1 athletes no btw, zero kids signed from the entire state of Oregon for the Ducks, 1 for OSU STOMP
The problem with Oregon high school athletics is funding sadly. I played with a couple guys who should've went to bigger schools (they went to Idaho and Portland state) but our coaches were/still are awful. If schools in oregon had the luxury to hire better coaches and facilities they'd send more kids to big programs. There is a lot of athleticism being under developed.
most intriguing prospect to me is BYU's 2* Motekiai Langi. Never played football. 6'7 410 rugby player from Tonga http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...byu-commit-motekiai-langi-is-a-very-large-man STOMP
Gleaned from the presser, 18 of the 22 signees in this class were HS team captains. Lots of them were honor roll kids as well STOMP
Put Canton Kaumatule & GPA into google and guess what you get? Nothing. Not from 247 or anywhere else... Belcher's has nothing to rebelch. Why wouldn't they publish his GPA if they know what it is and that it's below the 3.0 that Stanford now requires for entry? As the HC, Mark Helfrich has reviewed the scholastic records of all his incoming Freshman. Unlike Hopkins, he's spoken to Canton... in fact he's met with him many times and has met his family. He isn't reduced to BS-ing, he actually knows whats what. Here's a little of what he had to say yesterday (the first day he could comment) on Canton. honor student means his GPA is 3.5 or better. Of course common sense should have tipped you off that kids don't get to graduate early if they're struggling in school http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2015/02/oregon_ducks_recruiting_handin.html STOMP
If that happens, low expectations next year. We need VA for this year. Besides, UCLA has Rosen to groom this year.
Serious question, not being a Dick. What ever came of this? Or were you going off a poster's comments? UCLA seemed to not really be in the picture
Adams is from LA, I read he was there this weekend, many read into it he was visiting UCLA and that they had offered. While I wouldn't put it past Mora to try and grab this man for the largest reason to screw us, I think he just went home to see his family. I also heard he got an offer from Texas, but neither of these schools runs our type of offense, and could realistically put him on the stage Oregon can with the amount of weapons he'll have in Eugene at his disposal to shine. Knowing he's rooming with Addison makes me think he's already been given the nod as the starter! This is the perfect stop gap to allow Waller that crucial red shirt year. Oregon may not miss a beat with Adams. His #'s with an average O line and talent are quite nice! I'd also suggest that Lockie and Mahalak may not stick around. The vote of confidence for either doesn't seem to be materializing with the recent moves made.
I was a bit worried that Oregon wouldn't have their hearing footsteps guy in the defensive secondary after Dargan left. BUT, Fotu may change all of that! This kid hits like Polamalu. I don't think he'll be a linebacker...
