WOW! Analysis: Yandle was not a major need.....since team ranks 4th in scoring. Along with Girardi & Boyle, Yandle is horrible defensively. Team has no quality for the future; giving up 2015 & 2016 #1 and 2015 #2. But the worst was giving Yotes Anthony Duclair.......they said giving up on him will be the team's ruination. [ You think NESN has a NY hate on?] Then they go on to state that the BIG winners were: Arizona, Montreal, Philadelphia, Anaheim, Winnipeg, Los Angeles & of course, Boston. Other losers: San Jose, Detroit, Pittsburgh. Objectivity is not a NESN criteria. They set a sports' standard for media foolery. A total mockery. No wonder fans are crazy in that hub. NESN leads the insanity. Total bullshit reporting.
LOL. First. I hear about our farm sucking for years. Then, when they trade a prospect, they gave up Gretzky. Gimme a break. Those assclowns don 't even know who Buchnevich, Graves, Skjei, Walcott and Tambellini are. When exactly are roster spots coming open in the next 4 years. Almost all of the forwards are 27 and under.
Not to mention, their team did NOTHING. You want a loser look at the Bruins. The only thing they added was Talbot. That's a loser...LOL. I also thought the Pens did a solid job adding some grit, so I don't buy that either.
Plus, why are the Boston idiots running their mouth. The Bruins farm system freakin sucks. Their best players are Bergeron 29 with a history of concussions. Soderberg 29 Lucic 26 Marchand 26 Chara 37 Hamilton 21 Seidenberg 33 Rask 27 Smith 23 Krejci 28 Not that impressive. Those morons are getting excited over Connolly. Why? Because he has a big shot? He can't skate. He's slow and in this league, when you can't skate, you aren't all that good. If the Bruins future was looking good, they wouldn't be sucking right now. I mean there defenseman core other than Hamilton is complete crap for the future. Their top 2 centers are closer to 30 and being on the decline than they are to being in their prime. Their top paid winger Lucic has his head up his ass half the time and does nothing.
What kind of 3 ring circus do they run up there? Biased reporting. I hope that team does not make the playoffs. Then they can all bitch happily!
Calling themselves a winner after desperately needing a top 6 forward and landing nothing except Max Talbot and an underachieving Connoly is even crazier than calling us a loser. It's fantasy land up there.
Us, Detroit, and Pitt I thought were 3 big winners...and they called them all losers. And Boston was a winner...LOL. All you need to know I think.
I'm for not trading picks and prospects for players who aren't difference makers. Yandle is a difference maker. There were several reasons we lost in the finals. A couple of crap calls by the refs. Nash being useless offensively. Girardi playing hurt and being awful. Poor finishing from forwards. However, one of the main reasons was the inept PP. Most of the time it was pathetic. McDonagh looked like he was going to be a PP QB. He's regressed offensively. Like I said. I follow prospects as closely as any Rangers fan. While Duclair has a ton of offensively ability, most of it is coming from flying the zone early. You can't do that in the NHL. It doesn't work. If he can't do that, how much will that limit his offense? Unknown. The team has 8 forwards 27 and under. All probably will be signed. Throw in Nash and that's 9 forwards. So you have 3 open spots. D. Moore has one through next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep Sheppard for another 2 years if he is reasonable. Most I see open is 2 spots. Buchnevich and Lindberg very well might take those. Point is, the Rangers aren't going to have a roster for 3-4 years with top 9 forward spots open. Maybe one top 9 spot will be open. I think when Hank's window is closed you will see a year where Sather unloads about 3-4 big names for tons of picks and prospects. Rebuilding quickly and then going with one of the 2, young goalies in the system.
I agree dump. We still have a lot of youth. All those forwards 30 (Nash) and under. Stepan will be signed long term this summer, 6 mill per +/-. And I think Hags gets 2 or 3 years around low to mid 3's per. MSL to me is the odd man out unless he accepts 2 or 2.5 per tops. I don't think this is an old team with no future. AND like you said, we can flip some of these players for picks if we fall down in the next few years and/or Yandle doesn't appear to be signable because he wants a huge deal. I truly see very little downside here.
What they don't bother telling you is that some of those previous picks turned into Rick Nash and Kevin Hayes. Who are you drafting at the bottom of the first in the next couple of years who will equal them? Also, who's to say a future move can never be made to require a pick? Just the usual dumb reporting from the idiots up north. Don't worry they're soon to be spending most of their time sucking off David Ortiz.
Yeah. Ortiz who doesn't use roids because when they caught him, he yelled like a 2 year old and they all ran away in the media.
Oh, didn't you know, Papi has his own private investigation going on. He'll share those findings to clear his name any day now… While we're at it, science has proved that weather deflated all of the Patriots footballs.
What do you expect from a league that has somebody with Red Sox ties in Mitchell do an investigation? In a shocking development no Red Sox players turn up on the PED list. Later on Manny turns up a positive test while with the Dodgers and Ortiz stomps his feet and promises an investigation.
For my amusement I went and found the article where NESN said the Rangers are losers. Look at this gem of a write-up: "The Rangers went all-in with the Yandle trade. Yandle can play 20-plus minutes per game and provide scoring in a top-four role, but the Rangers didn’t need an offensive defenseman. They already rank third in goals scored per game and 11th in power-play percentage. Yandle, Dan Girardi and Dan Boyle are three of New York’s four best defensemen, and none of them are good defensively. The Rangers still haven’t replaced the two-way skill set that Anton Stralman took to the Lightning as a free agent last summer. The Yandle trade also leaves the Rangers without a first-round pick in 2015 and 2016 after not having one in 2013 and 2014, too. Four consecutive years without a first-rounder could prove costly in a few seasons, especially if the team’s current group of prospects doesn’t meet expectations. New York also doesn’t have a first- or second-round selection in the talent-rich 2015 draft." I mean who writes this stuff? First, counting Dan Boyle as one of our four best defenseman is laugable. Apparently theyve never even heard of Marc Staal and Kevin Klein, both of whom are excellent defensively. In reality, Boyle is now a 6th defenseman and probably the best 6th defenseman in the league. Second, we DO have a second round selection this year in the "talent-rich 2015 draft." Maybe they're just trying to pretend the St.Louis trade never happened? Laugable stuff written by a complete amateur. Here's the link http://nesn.com/2015/03/nhl-trade-deadline-2015-recapping-biggest-winners-losers/
the do have some merit, like it or not, not having a 1st round pick in four consective years can really hurt the future...yes I know the average age right now is pretty young....BUT....stepan is going to want to get paid....kreider....hags....then you have MSL....eventually you get to a point you lose a player because you cant resign and other teams know that...so what happens...trade away? or lose...when you trade away you usually get picks in exchange right? those picks take another 2 years to be productive, so the generation after this one will hurt unless we find more gems like Hayes. But even then Hayes cost more than a first rounder so again it goes back to the cap and the future. we have to hpe this is the year and if so we all don't give a crap about five years from now
Hayes replaces one of them Al and nash another who will both be here for many years so I think the 4 years without looks better when adding these 2 in
I am not totally agreeing with the story of us being a big loser , but looking on the outside...if we don't win the cup this year or next..that window closes..not just closes but could be slammed closed
I have never been one to defend Sather, especially being NYR GM for 15 years and no SC. I am sure he has reached his breaking point with no results. He wants it just like us fans. As long as Sather is in charge, he will find a way to make the Rangers a perennial threat. (I cannot believe I just uttered these words.......because at one time, I have not been so kind to this man.) There are moves I still cannot understand. But on he goes. There are many NHL analysts who say .....'a GM cannot keep trading #1 picks year after year(2013,2014,2015,2016) and still build a viable farm system. Maybe Sather knows something. By 2016 I do not think the system will be barren. He will rebuild it. Who knows. It's all conjecture. The last #1 pick was in 2012, D Brady Skjei( pronounced Shea). And from all reports, he has the goods. It's all about transforming the team's roster.....with optimum talent.
