It would be nice to get him back in the organization though if he isn't offered a head coaching gig.

With the Way Stotts helped tank the end or our season I am in favor of bringing Monty back.

I wouldn't mind him coming back as an assistant.

No, he was a great assistant and did fine in New Orleans. Their problems were roster construction and injuries. I think he was fourth longest tenured coach in the league? Zero chance they could contend with their issues. But Stotts has been better than expected here and I'd rather have steady continuity as opposed to lateral upgrades.

not surprised, Monty was always just a rebuild coach for them. Now that they ware looking ready to take the next step, its time to bring in the big guns.

    Maybe Monty's old boss?

Seriously, that is an organization that is always strapped for cash. They almost left NO a few years ago, but needed a tax payer backed bond measure to keep the team in NO. What "big name" are they going to be able to attract and afford?

Monty should find a job somewhere easily. Maybe not head coaching, but definitely assistant. I suspect the Pels got their eye on a certain coach to bring in.

Who are the big guns these days? A college coach or a TNT analyst?

Van Gundy is a coach I suspect able to do well.

    Hahahahahahahahahaha...

He's just a shorter version of McHale. Roll the balls out there and let the players figure it out.

You are probably right since the season has been over for a month. Usually the coaches are fired a little earlier then this. They must
have someone in mind who they think is better.

Not sure who I would consider the big guns at this point. The difference this year is Anthony Davis, that kid is a freak and will be better than LBJ. When you have a player like that you find the money to make the necessary moves and people actually want to coach/play with him.

Got to agree that he's being blamed for the front-office failings. They made at least two very bad trades - dumping RoLo so they could acquire Tyreke Evans, and getting Jrue "always injured" Holiday for the pick that became Nerlens Noel. Presumably this is all with an eye to locking up Anthony Davis (as basically NOTHING else matters for the Pelicans) so perhaps they didn't see eye to eye.

There will probably be quite a few coaching openings this offseason. Monty would definitely be a great assistant again but Toronto would be a good fit for him
