You forget over time how huge Sabas was. But then again there is no way he could have (or would have tried) covered Meyers out
past the 3 pt line, or on a fast break. At least not after all his injuries.

Time for some Sabonis highlights. (Of course it's ALWAYS that time...)

Why are we still bashing Leonard?

The operation by Dr. Hugh Janus, Proctologist, to remove Leonard’s thumb, was a success.

To say that Leonard is not worthy of comparison with Sabonis is not to knock Leonard, for NOBODY is worthy.

I think a more appropriate comparison would be a more efficient Troy Murphy

Before Leonard was drafted, and while I was watching film of his college play, his passing and moves in the paint did remind me of Sabonis.

The same way watching film of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson before this draft reminds me of Jerome Kersey.

No one knows how either player’s NBA career will eventually compare to the two veterans. But, I can see the comparison and potential in both young players when they played against college level players.

Sabonis was so washed up by the time he got to Portland and so fleet of foot. Yet, he was still a damn beast. Such a great basketball mind. He was great at improvising on the court. He and Bill Walton (who I've only seen highlights of) have to be the best bigs that understood the game from a PG's point of view. Maybe even better than a lot of PG's.

Meyers has a nice stroke and rebounds hard. Could be good. Still needs a lot of work.

Sabas was a literal legend, Leonard is only a Legend by name.
