The guy who interviews Roderick each week is an improv comic and public speaker, so every word, even where he's confused, is geared to make you probably laugh but maybe also learn something.

I love PDX but the homeless problem is really out of control. There are a few main groups of homeless, the mentally ill, the older indigent who have been out of society for too long, the drug or alcohol addicts, and then there's a big group of youth who choose to live that life. Those choosing to pan handle and thieve when they have alternate options have grown the homeless problem so large that it's become too big of an issue to get to and help the other groups who really need assistance.

And the pit bull rescue that gives dogs to anyone. WTF?!? My dog is half pit bull, half beagle so it's not like I have something against the breed but come on, there are so many fucked up people downtown pan handling with fucked up pit bulls. Why?

Totally agree. And I knew a bouncer downtown who told me it's believed by many of those street kids that they bond with those dogs my masterbating them, and that's how they keep control. I'm not making a joke, a lot of those dogs are jerked off or even blown to completion, and it's a point a pride amongst those dog owners how well they "take care" of their dogs.

IIRC, he lives in the house at Colonel Sumner park on 20th and Belmont, which is often filled with street kids partying. Also, Isaac is a angry little alcoholic, so all this makes sense.

Sounds like a scene from the forthcoming "American Psycho 3: Portlandia".

Patrick Bateman can't afford NY anymore so he tries Portland because there's so many bums and hipsters to stab, chainsaw and axe!
