All the more reason to stand pat at the trade deadline. The team will get help from within & this will be a great start.
Here's what I think of Ryan➡I'd rather have Drew. Yikes! Does this guy Ryan have incriminating pictures of Girardi and/or Cashman? Why, and how does he keep remaining on major league teams up to this point? Doesn't, nor is he known for making spectacular athletic defensive plays....has mediocre to slightly better career fielding percentages and range factors at 2b and SS, not a fast runner, injury prone, anemic power and has trouble keeping his batting average near or above .230 for his career. What the fuk is in this total package which has kept him around for so long? Classic case of a good old boy network? Lol Of course he's not, nor is expected to be a difference maker on the team..but just sayin'. I can probably find 100 kids from Latin America and AA ball who can at least approximate what he does for less money!
Good to hear, but will both be good for the rest of the season? ****Isn't it weird that every Yankee off day, they gain in the standings?****
If I was choosing I'd take Drew over Ryan but only as a defensive replacement in late innings. Though Ryan is also a solid SS he has absolutely no bat at all where Drew can at least pop one from time to time.
Forgot about Ryan, looked up the roster and there he was on the DL. Actually between Drew, Ryan, Petit, Gregorius, and Pirella Christ pick your poison. Everytime I think Gregorius is improving he proves me wrong. I'd think that Pirella may do better with more playing time right now his stats don't look all that good, Petit, don't know much about him. That leaves Drew who I still feel is the "Sad Sack" when at the dish. Even with a DH that bottom three is a major pothole. Replacing Cashman with a real GM would also help.
Well I can say with conviction...imo.....Pirela, as a classic free swinger NEEDS "plenty" of at bats more so than the likes of Ryan and Drew if he has any chance of making significant improvements or reaching anything close to his potential as a hitter. And....Gregorious.....we could be,maybe, possibly be watching this kid actually mature in slow increments of becoming a pretty good young SS....if he can be a bit more disciplined avoiding chasing bad pitches...and can level off in his final numbers at approx .240 BA or so, with 8-10 HRs....in his FIRST FULL SEASON as a starting SS,...I think this will be very encouraging. And I get feeling this kid is welcoming and embracing the "Yankee thing". He's a good humble down to earth, hard working kid with alot of physical talent...and that's good enough for me until further notice. (I'm chuckling)
I don't mind Didi at .240-.250 as long as his defense is solid. He's certainly not the problem offensively anymore. Having a complete black hole still at second on July 7th and still using he's hitting the ball hard right at people excuse is quite tiresome.
Yeah that's all Joe keeps saying while Drew continues to be as close to an automatic out that I've ever seen. Currently he's in another one of his 1-21 slumps & yet I'd bet he's back in the lineup tonight.
