Neil said it all clearly..whether you like him or not. They had a 3 year window to contend with this group and it ended with Wes going down. Had that one thing not happened we'd have kept the old core together. He wasn't going to give max deals to aging guys who were not good enough in the end. Middle of the pack playoff teams, which we were headed for after Wes crashed. We couldn't beat the Spurs and we couldn't beat Memphis the following season. What he then did was go out and get some youth and better defenders to build around Dame..all makes sense to me. Having a superstar HOF player doesn't always work. Melo, Kobe were not difference makers the last few years. Fans need to start looking forward and finding value in the roster we're building. It's over. New chapter.
Yes Neil does says a lot things clearly. So if Wes doesn't go down, LA re-signs? Blazers resign Wes and Lopez even if LA leaves? I get that LA leaving means not re-signing Wes and Lopez. Not sure LA re-signs if Wes doesn't go down.
I guess I could go on and on questioning if NO is all that, but I see where all this is going. I've said what I have had to say about him, don't trusts what he says but personally haven't decided if he is a good GM or not yet. No point going on with this when in the end I want the Blazers to be successful. Peace All!
I am of the basic opinion that all GM's are far too heavily criticized for what didn't happen. In fact from a fans perspective I literally can't even begin to know where or how to judge on what didn't happen, as we never have full details of why things didn't happen or if they were even available to happen realistically. So much of what didn't happen is speculation, hypothesis and flat out armchair GM's throwing ideas at the wall . I can judge on moves they have made when they have control. As such I really can't fault Neil for Lamarcus leaving. I could judge him on trading Batum, letting Wes and ROLO go and the signings. as his plan unfolds I have mentally braced myself for a bad season, but I think I see where he is going and I agree with his methodology.
Aminu JUST HAD a break-out playoffs. He'll probably start for us. He's primed and ready for a break-out season.
Wasn't Rolo like 6-7 years in the league before he came to Portland? Wasn't he just a "meh" player? I seem to remember him breaking out. I get your point but that ain't an end all. If you can find the right mix of talent, they all can help each other to break out.
Why ask such a silly question when you already know the answer? Trolling? Are you just arguing just to argue? The reason why Fropez wasn't re-signed is in multiple threads throughout the forum.
Yeah pretty much trolling. It's funny seeing how much the Olshey fanboys contradict themselves though.
Mags got his seasons mixed up. Just a brain fart. Or a drug induced psychotic break. With Mags - 50/50.
