Since Freeland signed with CSKA does he still have a cap hold? I know 1st round draft picks that agree to not come over are removed from the cap. I'm not sure if free agent rights are the same but that would make sense. Freeland could be a good 4th big man to bring back over if we are a solid playoff team in a couple years.

Since he didn't sign with a NBA team then I believe we have his cap hold until we choose to renounce it. Could he be a trade chip down the line though? Not sure how that works or if it can work since we didn't resign him.

Good question. I don't see any note about it in the cbafaq.com, so I'm assuming the Blazers still have his CAP hold unless they renounce his rights.

I think it's the opposite. He signed a contract with CSKA, so because of the reciprocity rules he cannot possibly sign a contract with anyone else (FIBA or NBA) and the Blazers' cap hold is removed. However, if in 2015-16 he signs with the Blazers again, they still have 3yr Bird Rights over him because it's the 3 years before he became a FA (which were his last 3 yrs as a Blazer). If he signed with, say, SAS, they do not have Bird Rights. I believe that POR only EDIT: "would have lost had the offered the QO" the rights to him as a RFA--I can't find anything that says they can give a QO next year (and the resulting RFA) to someone who's a player in the EuroLeague. But once he signs his next contract, his Bird clock resets and it goes based off of the newly-signed contract prior to the next FA period.

Brings up kind of a good point, though...if a player wanted to get around RFA rules (Jimmy Butler, anyone?) and go to a team of his own choosing, might you be able to reject QO's and offer sheets and sign overseas for a year (Year 5 of your career)? Then come back as a UFA with no Bird Rights but free to choose whoever you want in Year 6?

I believe Pressey contract will be on our cap for a bit less than he's actually paid which is reimbursed by the league.

actually it's the same. The vet minimum cap hit is for a 2yr veteran. Phil has 2 years in the league.

I've updated the main post to include Mike Miller's $2,854,940 salary.

I did not add Brendan Haywood's contract since it's assumed he will be waved since it is non-guarantee if waved before Aug 1.

The Blazers now have $19,905,837 in CAP space after taking on Miller's contract.

looking at the first post, I think you have the guys on rookie contract for 1 more year than they're actually guaranteed. For instance, this is Leonard's 4th year, so he's only guaranteed through this year (2015-16). Same with Harkless. CJ and Plumlee are signed through 2016-17.

I assumed he meant they will be restricted free agents so they can't leave the team until after that year if we want to keep them. But yes your right they're not signed through those last seasons.

or they could accept the QO, reject all offer sheets, play the season or with your team, then become a RFA, kinda like Greg Monroe did.

That part I knew, but you can circumvent that (like CHI did with Butler) by offering a max QO. Then any contract you sign has to be 3 years.

Reading the CBA text, Article XI, Section 4.a.(ii) indicates that the Max QO is offered in concert with the regular QO, not in place of it. The extension of the MQO doesn't prevent the player from accepting the 1-year QO if he so chooses.

Reading further in that section, Article XI, Section 4.a.(ii).D says:
