Got my own answer. Even though they have about 15M in cap space, they have not yet worked out a deal with Hags.... Hmmm....makes me wonder if NYR knew what his asking price was and that was part of why they moved him....
When it came to Hags the good thing was you pretty much pencil in what you were going to get from him during the season. That being said after winning the Pens series he became a complete no show. What I always felt though was that you just can't have both Hags and Zucc on the same team. No offense to Hags who I always liked but it's not difficult production to replace.
More proof he was a dickhead. The moron actually said he didn't expect to get traded. Get a clue dude.
F'n absurd for a 15 goal role player. Hagelin got too much ice time here. He should be playing 14 minutes a night at most.
Thats a lot for a guy that never hit 20 goals or 40 points. Guess everybody gets 4M now... Glad we didnt keep him at anywhere near those numbers.....
4 million for a 35 point guy who should be playing 14 minutes a night. That's how you run into cap trouble.
I think most of us said 3 mill +/- is the most we could go for Hags. Seeing him get 4 mill per means we had no trade him 100% for sure. We couldn't afford that and we did what we had to do. Is what it is. I don't like essentially doubling his cap hit to 4 mill for a 17 goal 35 point guy, but that was always the way this was headed, so we moved on.
The first year Anaheim fans will like him because they will watch him skate fast. The second year they will be cursing his stupid contract because they will realize he has almost no finishing skills.
Al, this is why the NHL is an after thought to most sport fans. Management in the NHL is clueless. This may be a generality, but so damn true.
