It took me a while to get over the loss in the natty. Actually, that loss pretty much deflated my desire to watch any sports, but I'm pumped for this season. I can't wait to see Vernon and find out how the post-Mariota Ducks do with all this talent.
I think this season will be like the 2009 season. Start slow but gain a lot of steam towards the end of the season and hopefully make the playoffs ( don't think we will). I see the season shaping out like this: EWU - W @MSU - L GSU - W UTAH - W @CU - W WSU - W @ UW - W @ ASU - W/L (60/40) CAL - W @ STAN - W/L (65/35) USC - W/L (50/50) OSU - W
If it were later in the season I would feel more comfortable, I'm just not sold on VA yet because he hasn't had a lot of time with the team to gel.
I like Oregon's chances with anyone. Maybe I'm just full of the sunshine and rainbows that preseason brings, but I don't see any unit as the weakest link. Okay, maybe LBs, but they're starting 4 huge/athletic Seniors & hopefully they finally have their gap assignments down. Overall they've got talent, experience & depth across the board. If they can avoid key injuries this should be another special year. Geez, so many individual players I'm pumped to see... Vernon, Tyler, Braylon, Tony, Kirk, Hegarty, Byron, Royce, Christian, Henry, DeForest, Reggie, Arrion, Torrodney... stoked for 5PM! Go Ducks! STOMP
Yup, there's a ton to be excited about, and I think this season is less stressful than last year because we don't have the same kind of expectations. We don't have MM and many people aren't even picking us to make the playoff. I think this is the perfect opportunity to surprise some people. I think I'm most excited about Vernon. He's a known commodity in an unknown circumstance. He might come out and score 8 touchdowns or he might come out and struggle. Nobody knows what will happen and I love that. Gives this season some intrigue.
