Ex-Tide QB Phillip Ely leads Toledo in upset over No. 18 Arkansas

Despite having had games in Little Rock for more than eight decades, the Arkansas Razorbacks played as though they were in unfamiliar surroundings Saturday by stumbling into mistakes that took a shine off the Southeastern Conference's vaunted West Division.

Toledo quarterback Phillip Ely, a former backup at Alabama, threw for 237 yards and the three-touchdown underdogs upset Arkansas 16-12.

Western Michigan upsets Toledo to give NIU division

From 1-11 to a piece of a division title and the program's first victory against a ranked team, a lot has happened in the last three years for Western Michigan. The pinnacle came Friday.

Corey Davis caught two touchdown passes and Western Michigan upset No. 24 Toledo 35-30 to send Northern Illinois to the Mid-American Conference championship game.

Central Michigan stuns No. 22 Oklahoma State on controversial finish

The officiating mistake was a doozy -- and it cannot be fixed. The play that followed was even more astonishing.

One of the oddest endings imaginable left Oklahoma State stunned and Central Michigan celebrating.

A misinterpreted rule extended the game when it should have been over and allowed the Chippewas to score a wild, winning touchdown on a Hail Mary and lateral -- yes, both! -- that covered half the field for a 30-27 upset of No. 22 Oklahoma State on Saturday.

No. 24 Western Michigan shuts out Zips 41-0

Javarion Franklin and Zach Terrell made sure one of the biggest weeks in the 100-year history of the Western Michigan football ended on a high note.

Franklin, a junior running back, rushed for a school-record 281 yards and quarterback Terrell threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as No. 24 Western Michigan -- ranked in the Top 25 this week for the first time in school history -- shut out Akron 41-0 on Saturday.

No. 14 WMU still unbeaten after 55-35 rout of Toledo

After another glorious moment in Western Michigan's remarkable turnaround, P.J. Fleck was happy to look back on his first season with the Broncos, when he managed only one win in 2013 as a rookie coach.

"I'm so thankful for 1-11," he said. "It'll probably be the most memorable year ever in my mind, because failing is growth and we failed more than anybody in the country, but our perspective of failing was way different, and we wouldn't let each other be down."

The 14th-ranked Broncos have come a long way since then, and on Friday night they capped an undefeated regular season in style, routing Toledo 55-35 to secure a berth next week in the Mid-American Conference championship game. Corey Davis became the career FBS leader in yards receiving, and WMU never trailed, advancing to the league title game for the first time since 2000.

No. 13 WMU holds on, beats Ohio 29-23 in MAC title game

With a conference championship finally in tow and his team's unbeaten record still intact, P.J. Fleck stopped holding back.

Before he was even asked about it, the Western Michigan coach made it clear where he thought his team should be headed next.

"We deserve to be in the gosh darn Cotton Bowl," he said. "Period. Write it down."

The 13th-ranked Broncos might indeed end up there, but only after holding on for a dramatic 29-23 victory over Ohio on Friday night in the Mid-American Conference title game. WMU wrapped up its first MAC championship since 1988 when Robert Spillane intercepted a pass with 51 seconds remaining.

Jackson throws 3 TDs, Buffalo still unbeaten, beats Rutgers

Rutgers has become the latest team to find out just how good Buffalo and quarterback Tyree Jackson are.
