The reason is simple. If you like basketball, you probably know less about football than a football fan.

Each individual usually knows less about what he considers unpleasant (e.g. capitalism, if you're on the left) and more about what he considers to be life's goal (e.g. accumulating possessions to your own glory, if you're rich like Magnifier).

It's just a matter of what interests you.

I don't feel our government should be empowered to regulate any profits. We aren't the Soviet Union.

More bullshit. The economy has done better under Liberals than Conservatives. It always has.

So you agree that the democrats should put a cap on corporate profits?

Government should take away every penny of Magnifier's money. Facing economic reality, he would then become the #1 Voice of the Liberals.

Absolutely not!!! @Denny Crane said I can live at his house and work his tomato garden! I work for my wage. Only racist liberals think it's okay to leech of the profits one makes.

Without gardeners trimming leeches off the fruits, fat tomatoes will leech profits from the millions of racist liberals.

Profiteering is a pejorative term for the act of making a profit by methods considered unethical.[1]

Business owners may be accused of profiteering when they raise prices during an emergency (especially a war).[2] The term is also applied to businesses that play on political corruption to obtain government contracts.

Some types of profiteering are illegal, such as price fixing[3] syndicates, for example on fuel subsidies (see British Airways price-fixing allegations), and other anti-competitive behaviour. Some are restricted by industry codes of conduct, e.g. aggressive marketing of products in the Third World such as baby milk (see Nestlé boycott).

I'm not sure that's something that's ever been proposed. I do agree with Sly's post above though.

I was just joking about you being a commie last night, didn't know my joke was actually truth.

There is a big difference between "profiteering" and "just making a profit". Karl Marx's ghost must be really proud of you.

Of course you agree, because you didn't see he used "profiteering" instead of "profit"

Btw, your Bernie Sanders is absolutely proposing this. Btw...

Non-profits are made by "free choice". They can decide not to make profit on their own.

Hey Denny, does SC2 grant Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) for the education we're getting from Professor Mags in the areas of Economics and Political Science??? My brain is almost full and I should be near a Masters Degree by now....besides, I'd rather focus on getting a degree in The Precepts Of Christianity And Its' Relationship To The Golden Rule. I'm currently on the hunt for a qualified teacher in that area. So far I've searched the Republican Party far and wide and have come up empty handed.....but I doubt I'll find much, if anything different in the Democratic Party either...

You're the one posting these vague generalities. I just posted an easy example proving you wrong.

Now if you'd like to post some specific examples of what you're upset about we could actually have a meaningful discussion.

But if all you're going to do is accuse people of being communists every time they disagree or challenge one of your vague statements then I guess I'll just tell you you're right and talk basketball in the regular forum.

Magnifier, you give LSD a bad name. Most of us were made smarter by using it. Legalize it!

You can call it what you want. I say they are stemming the flow of inflation. Lots of that is due to corporate profit. Fine by me to put controls on that.
