So Sly, do you just take this video at face value because it fits your supposition of errors, omissions, and changes to the bible? Do you simply believe the claim that "this sacred text has changed" and "for the first 100-200 years, copies were not made by professionals"...?
What original text of anything was written in English? English was not a well-established language until before the first millennium.
I've read a few books from this guy and found him really interesting. He writes about the history of the bible and Jesus but it's not an attack on Jesus, Christianity, or religion. http://www.bartdehrman.com/
I remember in catholic grammer school kids would sit in a circle and a simple sentence was passed from kid one to the last. None or a small portion of that sentence was correct. Imagine 2000 years ago when education was reserved for the elite. Can we believe what was written by an an author is the same as is today? The church inquisitions, medival cruelty and religious bullism precepts forms of accuracy. Perhaps religion was the frst double speak. On the other side of the world Muslims are gauged in Shite and Sunni dividing and warring parties who stir the pure foundation of the religion. Are they using terrorism or is it a concept of Sunni or Shite faith or both sectors. Religion is a the middlemans stink, somewhat like the elixers sold in the old West. Perhaps Buddism is the only true form of religion due to its one to one relationship with the believer rather than an interpretation spoon fed to the masses. .
Perhaps some confusion was generated right up front by the differences in language. Such as the original meaning of Mari in the ancient Indo-European was, young woman of marriageable age. Then we have the Greeks whom were fond of having Gods originating from Virgin births, like Zeus out of the virgin goddess Persephone. The first version of the New testament of the Bible was written in Greek, some translation must have taken place, I doubt all the Jewish apostles of Jesus could write in Greek, if they all could indeed write. If you go to Ephesus and hear the tales of the days when Paul visited there (Greek they spoke in that day), they didn't think highly of him because he spoke a different tongue. Heck, they had him Jail, perhaps more than once. So I don't think he was writing in Greek. Come to think of it, Krishna (the Hindu) was also of Virgin Birth. But back to the translation of the Bible, did Mary get translated (by Greek writers) into Virgin instead of Young woman? Everywhere you read in the New Testament where Virgin is use, it reads fine and the essence of the thought works when you substitute Young Woman for Virgin. Then we have the problem of, How could Jesus be the messiah the Hebrew prophets wrote about? He, had to be of the House of David to be the messiah! A Virgin birth will not get it done, but the son of Joseph works.
The Turks will swear, even today, Paul was there, in Ephesus. They will even show you the Jail where they put him when he crossed the line occasionally.
Yep! That is the term "They" use I think the locals are thinking of themselves as "they" through all this time. BTW if you ever go there, for god sake, don't eat the watermelon!
LOL I have no idea what I was trying to say there. Excuse moi. I've gotta stop drinking and posting. Anyone have a good meme for that?
