State Rep. Terry Goodin (D-Austin) has championed a resolution that would name a portion of Interstate 65 after legendary performer, John Mellencamp. House Concurrent Resolution No. 14, passed unanimously today in the committee for Roads and Transportation, encourages the Indiana Department of Transportation to rename a portion of Interstate 65, from Exit 34 to Exit 50, as "John Mellencamp Way." Affectionately referred to as Indiana’s "favorite son," Mellencamp grew up in Seymour, Indiana, drawing inspiration for his music from his small town life. Some of his greatest hits tell the story of his life in the Midwest, including "Jack and Diane" and "Pink Houses."
