Apparently Noah has told teammates he's "Done with the Bulls" Have always loved Noah as a player (and maintained that, had we not "lucked into" the #1 pick that we used on Oden, we would've drafted him). Dunno if he's basically done because of injuries, but if not he's like Plumlee with defense, which is not bad at all.
I cant read all 5 pages right now, but I am confused at the thought that we get him for nothing. Isnt the $13 mill a year something and then goes on our books? Yes I understand it still leaves us room, but that is not giving up nothing. That's giving up $13 mill a year that could be used in part to sign an all star to a max or something.
I wonder how Horford and Noah's relationship is. Would Al be more inclined to sign somewhere that was also bringing in his old college teammate?
It wouldn't hurt. When healthy, even at his age, Noah is a lot better than what we have at C now. He could even make shots outside of 3' with that ugly shot of his. Not the past 2 years, though. He was definitely hurt, and he's been hurt most of his seasons in the league.
Been pumping the idea of Noah for a bit now. I feel like he can be our version of Bogut. A 25 mpg rim protector and passer who can be a vet presence. Would be huge for us. And I bet he'd come for cheap. Relatively.
With his advanced age and injury issues, he would have to come really cheap for me to consider it personally.
With the pincer movement of his Florida teammate Noah and his compatriot Montero, Horford would find Portland's siren song IRRESISTIBLE.
I honestly dont know, and maybe the cap raising is squashing my thought, but $13 mill a season seems high and Im thinking we can find a better fit to the roster for that type of money.
Even if we gave him a haircut, you still have to watch that gawd awful shot when the hack a Noah came. Don't need it.
Just what we need....an old injury prone big who can't really shoot...I'd keep Kaman before I took that risk...if I wanted an older Bulls player I'd go for Pau
When healthy, he's a much better defensive player than we have at C. Unlike most of our bigs, he can score on the drive from top of the key and finish with either hand. He's an elite passing C - averaged 3.8 APG in just 21 MPG last year, or 6.2 per 36 (along with 14.5 rebounds/36 and 1.6 blocks/36. I wouldn't pay him $13M. Maybe someone will. Or maybe he can do the 1 year player option on a lesser deal and we could score him as a UFA that way.
Would he beat out Davis or Plumlee on the depth chart? Denny says he can finish near the rim, but he shot 43% 0-3 last year, which is beyond pathetic. If you remember how much Mason missed in close during the playoffs, that was a 53% performance. I haven't seen him much lately, but $13 mil and I don't see him as an upgrade over Davis or Plumlee.
