With early bird we could pretty much go up to 30/yr. 175% of his salary, which is like 17.1 this year i believe.
If he's such an asset why not trade him for his cap hold and use it to sign a bigger free agent. Im thinking this could be one of the better ways to use his trade value
Lol what? Amina has one of the best contracts in the nba, is relatively young, and still has an upside. He has value. A lot of it. If they wanted to trade him teams would be lining up for him.
What? Aminu on $7M a year is probably one of the best deals in the league right now. We are not going to 'dump his salary on someone'.
Literally every good free agent has already signed somewhere. Also, Aminu is actually a good player on a bargain of a contract. Please stop.
That doesn't really fit the timeline of how things went down. Durant didn't make his decision known until yesterday, Horford committed to the Celtics on July 2nd.
Because it's absolutely ridiculous idea. He's a good player on a very small contract, anyone of this quality this year and you are looking at spending at least $14M in the market. Dumping his contract to sign someone worse than him (because we cannot really get anyone better out of all available players in FA) is straight suicide. Giving up on a very good player who will take 6% of your cap space next year, for nothing, is frankly the worst idea I've ever heard.
I personally like Sullinger... People on this forum would shit themselves if Neil got another poorish 3 point shooter though.
It wasn't an advocating for that deal, just that something like that is about what is left for the Blazers to do. However, losing players for nothing seems to be this franchises specialty of late. Sad... I'm not sure about the "He can get 25-30 mil easily." The cap goes up again next summer but not as much as it did this summer and no on outside of KD (LeBron next) got that kind of money. I can't believe Monroe would be the one getting that kind of contract given his limitations. Certainly he would still get paid but likely not that high. As mentioned by others, I think Aminu's contract is one of the most valuable in the league for players not on a rookie contract. Signing free-agents hasn't worked and there aren't really any of significance left. For what you get from Al-F, $7M is a great deal....keep it.
Isn't Ezeli still available? Just by renouncing Kaman, Henderson and Roberts and not renewing Alexander, the Blazers have 9 million in cap space. What other team that needs a center still has that much cap space? I am hoping that it's still a good possibility he could sign here, and we could keep all our RFA's.
Reports were out that Presti knew Durant was gone before Durant announced it. Reports also said Durant knew the night before, so it's not entirely implausible that other people within his circle knew as well (and Horford too).
If earlier this past week, Ezeli could have gotten double the capspace we have. This is a good call. There really are no teams to be afraid of that will over pay. Bulls need a C, but they won't splurge in a down year. HOU has only Capela, but no capspace left. NO has no capspace left, and have Asik. Waiting for RFA (now UFA) Ezeli could have been the right plan considering the lack of competition for his services.
