So far nothing, have heard no rumors of any offers for him. I am starting to think he may come back to the Blazers for the QO which I think is near 7 mil. Or do the Blazers offer him a smaller 3 yr 20-25 mil deal? I frankly do not really want him back but at 7-8 mil per, given the other contracts we have seen, it may be a nice "value/trading" chip contract. Thoughts?
To me if he was smart he should sign the QO do he be out until Dec. plus it make him UFA next year. But due to him not playing till Dec. when he get back can he even crack the rotation.
We wouldn't. He was a lottery pick, so if we just let him leave for nothing, we would lose a lottery pick for nothing
Whether or not we "lose a pick for nothing" is not the question. The question is: what is he worth? You want to over-pay a guy that hasn't even been able to secure a steady roll off the bench to avoid "loosing a lottery pick for nothing"? Signing him to a contract won't make him a better player.
Portland finished the season in 5th place in the west. The only way they do better with the team it looks like they will field is to make better use of Meyers Leonard. I hear they got another ball handler so the two we have, can play off the ball! This might be right but what might be better is all three of them playing off the ball and let motion flow around a high post big man, one that can shoot as well as run. With a PF that knows where the boards are, this could be a great team. Leonard, Plum and Gasol if he is part, can pass the ball. A team that can do more than chuck up threes.
What is his play at this point? The market that forced Ezeli to sign for a small deal should similarly affect Meyers. He's injured and won't even be able to play until December. I gotta say, if I was in his boat I'd sign a long term deal for 10-12. Gambling on himself didn't pay off and doubling down could be really stupid.
