To me the easy decision is let Crabbe go

He's not worth it and he won't be happy in a limited role

The bigger thing here is if he'll really be upset if he's still a backup here.

I guess the whole thing was worth it just so we can say that we gave Brooklyn Crabbes.

FWIW 2017 SF FA class is extremely weak. If we don't match we are looking at a long term group of Turner/Harkless/Layman.

There's an easy way to not be the backup...beat out the starter. CJ did that last year.

It can if Nets agree to rip up offer sheet I believe. It was just done by the Bucks with Dellavedova who was going to sign with them but Cle traded him instead.

Lin-Crabbe-Lopez wins you about 30 games in the east. Guess that's what you do when you don't own your draft picks.

This appears to have all the makings of a truly immovable contract in a couple of years. I predict buyers remorse for whichever team gets saddled with this albatross.

I like AC and good for him getting paid, but I hope it's not here.

It's semantics, but you can't "sign the offer sheet". You can "agree to terms" or whatever, but once the offer sheet is signed you're stuck.

BTW, how fun would a 17M trade exception looked in 360 days. :sigh:

    I don't think they do. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/bro/salary
So, they are allowed to go over the cap to sign our free agent; that doesn't seem right. But we would not be able to go over the cap on sign and trade? In other words we could not take more back than his caphold, now that we are capped out? Anyone have a definite answer on this?

AC would have to become an All-Star during the next 4 years to justify that contract. He can't do that as a 6th man with us. He probably can't do it period even on the Nets.

Are you saying we can't "sign and trade" him and get the exception? Is that ruled out by the current CBA?

If this means we keep harkless I'm ok with it. He's the better prospect imo.
