As a result of the legal issue hovering over Vasquez, the Hooks announced Vasquez had been placed on administrative leave without pay, a fairly routine response when a player gets into this sort of legal issue. This will allow the legal process to play out before any further action from the Astros and/or Hooks is taken. The teams are cooperating with police. “We take this allegation very seriously, and have taken swift response as we do not condone violence in our organization,” a statement from the Astros read. “The Astros are disappointed that this allegation is attached to a member of our organization.” The video footage was reviewed by the minor league club on August 2, when an employee of the team claimed Vasquez threatened him.
