Hurd was trying to get on the bachelor 3+ years ago. I dont think the timing of the announcement has anything to do with the bachelor

Many fans do. Could be worse. We could not have a basketball team to not be happy with...

In what universe does one immediately say this hiring sucks? At worst, it could be a "wait and see" situation before declaring the signing as it sucking.

Give the guy a chance. Jesus.

I'm still salty about the Mikes. No matter how good Calabro and Hurd are they will never replace the Mikes for me.

The firing of the Mike's is independent from the hiring.

Meaning, you can be salty about the firing.. I still am to a degree, but still not have that affect your thoughts on the hiring. Whats done is done and the Mike's aren't here, so SOMEONE has to fill the spot.

My honest concern is that these guys don't get the true Blazers welcome simply because some fans are pissed about the Mike's when these guys had zero control and nothing to do with it.

I watched him on YouTube. He's going to be good. I think he sounds a bit like my friend, Tony Gwynn.

I understand. Almost 20 years later, and I am still salty about the Schonz. Wheels may not be bad, but he'll never be the Schonz.

Uh, okay. Don't tell me what kind of opinion I should have. That's why it's an opinion.

I really don't give two shits about the new hires, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

    I'll miss the Mikes

But I think how people feel about the new broadcasters will depend on how well the team plays. Unfair, since obviously they have no control over that, but true. Wheels was fortunate to start for the 99 season when the Blazers went to the WCF. He called a lot of wins, and everyone said he's great. Calling losses is lots harder. Trying to sound interesting when the team is playing like crap is a strain and either they are doomsters or sound fake.

Its a free world. Never once did I say you should/ have to think any one way. I stated how I feel about it and gave my opinion about your opinion. If you don't like people opposing your viewpoint,. then don't post your opinion?

My point is, they are two independent entities of which your crying over. you stated your opinion on a public forum. If you cant handle the repercussions, then I suggest not posting your opinions. You have yours, I have mine. How do you think you have the right to share yours, but I'm notable to share mine?

I provided a suggestion on how to separate the two entities to possibly help your saltiness and you blew it off and wanna sit in a corner and bitch and cry... Boo hoo. Mikes are gone.. WAAAhhh. I dont give a shit who they hire... wahhh.

That's my opinion of your opinion. :)

Edit: BTW, I even agreed with you that I am salty too. Not sure why you took my post so personal...

    Which is very interesting.

I find schonz to be a crotchety old man. Big fan of wheels.

Hopefully the mikes dont hold resentment towards calabro and hurd, because the resentment should be towards the blazers, not the individuals replacing them.

Hopefully history doesnt repeat itself with that.

So how many NBA teams, or sports teams in general have two guys with ZERO association with the city, and a color commentator with zero ties to the city or the league?

I like the new broadcast team and really hope Brian Grant takes Tone's spot with Wheels. To me it's a total upgrade.

It's hard to hate on the guy without even seeing him get comfortable calling Blazers games. I really hope he provides great analysis and displays telestrator skills. I also hope he doesn't try to be a clown.

There is a lot to be said for getting some new blood in the announcing team. The team itself is really young, which means the announcers might easily build rapport. The younger announcers may also attract more of a younger audience.
