PER is not the end all be all but it is as good of any place to start. I will be mentioning some that have already been mentioned. Boban Marjanovic Briante Weber (could have been had from the D League) Joel Bolomboy Skal Labissiere Kyle O'Quinn Rakeem Christmas Archie Goodwin Montrezl Harrell Jeff Withey Willie Reed Malik Beasley John Jenkins Christian Wood Chris McCullough Stephen Zimmerman Cheick Diallo Lucas Nogueira Willie Cauley-Stein All with a PER over 16 (some way over) and yet with room to still improve.
Considering the Warriors just plucked him themselves, I doubt he's going to be available cheaply due to being overlooked (as I assume is the premise of "underused gems").
Yes. He is the one you would have got for free but not now (although GS has too many guards and they will have to get rid of one at some point). We don't need guards either though so I can see why we didn't go for him yet.
Briante Weber would be the all-time NCAA steals leader if he hadn't've got injured his senior year. I love him for that, but I fear he doesn't have much BBIQ. Sort of the PG version of T-Rob.
He did, but the Warriors can sign him to another 10 day contract and then sign him for the rest of the season. Considering he signed with them despite having offers from other teams, he'll probably stay with them all season if they want him.
I was going to say Dwayne Dedmon from the Spurs but I see he's been averaging over 24 MPG (and a double-double) in his last five games. He's a rebounding stud (TRB = 21.5%), but I'd guess at 24 MPG, he's no longer considered underused. BNM
Alex Len - PHO. He's kind of the anti-Meyers. Not much range on his shot - 47 of his 140 made FGs have been dunks, which is consistent with his career average of 34% of his made FGs being dunks. His average FG distance is 6.1 feet. But, he does big man things like rebound and block shots (17.8% TRB%, 5.3% BLK%). For comparison, 11% of Meyers' made FGs are dunks, his average FG distance is 19.0 feet, his TRB% is 11.0 and his BLK% is 2.0. Like Meyers, he's 7'1", but over a year younger. BNM
Nerlens Noel - PHI. Just had to say it again. I've been driving the Noel bandwagon since September. In spite of being 100% healthy and having a PER over 20, he's still only getting 18 MPG in PHI. Neil, make it happen already! BNM
Greg Monroe - MIL. Six months ago, I would have never dreamed I'd consider Greg Monroe a gem of any kind, but he's actually been plying damn well for MIL this year coming off the bench. Even his defense is improved. His PER (21.3) is greater than his MPG (21.2). He's even passing the ball well. His AST% of 16.1 isn't quite as good as Mason Plumlee's (21.4)m but still damn good for a big man. BNM
What about D-League legend and our very own summer leaguer Pierre Jackson? If Napier isn't getting a chance maybe Jackson would. Another player I like is Joe Jackson, he actually signed in Israel this season and was released shortly after but I think it was for having hard time adjusting to playing far from home more than anything else. I also like Noriega from the Raptors and of course the once a Blazer, always a Blazer, Thomas Robinson
Skal Labissière is a Haitian professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings. He graduated from Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, Tennessee (?????). He is 6'10 and weighs 195 lbs. Great name BUT......he would be a straw in a beer bottle especially for a post up player.
Harrell looks like a good aquisition as he knows the Houston system, is a young 2013 drafted player, 6'8", played under Petino in Louisvill and makes a paultry 1.2 mil per year.
