My biggest issue with the fire Terry stuff is the absence of a true/viable replacement. But, Ettore Messina is the guy to keep an eye on. He's prolly going to be Pop's successor unless we make a huge offer to lure him away, but the guy just gets it. He can build a culture and a sustainable contender. Might not necessarily work with Neil's personality and ego, but who knows how long Neil will last?

Listen to the guy talk to Woj:

I'm not advocating, but JVG would be a coach that is built more for playoffs than Terry is

IMO....Until we secure a viable rotation of NBA players we shouldn't worry about Stotts. He's doing a fine job with very sketchy and limited player ability on this roster.
He was coaching us 2 years ago when we were arguably the 4th-6th best team in the entire league (just prior to Wesley's achilles tear). He's a good coach.

Our problem rests on the player-personnel side of the equation!

Stotts' self-destructive system will never go anywhere. But your guy seems to be Blatt-quality. Not prime-time material. Blatt had coached in the NBA before looking like a dufus with LeBron.

Agreed. Although I'm not opposed to replacing him, I do like what he's done with the team when the team is actually well built and not a hodge-podge of players.

Outside of Damian and CJ (not counting Nurkic since it's too soon), the team has maybe 2 players who are worth keeping. Maurice and possibly Turner.

I don't think Stotts is a problem at all...players come here and get better...he has coached this rebuilding project well....give him the talent and he'll have a team in the mix.....I think he got a lot out of a bunch of projects last season and this season, it was time to weed the roster

Figured you'd have an opinion on him.

He has so much more charisma than Blatt. His biggest problem was inability to reach his players in the NBA-- and dealing with Lebron is a different entity altogether.

Plus Blatt is actually American, even if his coaching experience wasn't.

But I don't see us replacing Stotts yet. What's the point? If he's bad, that's okay - we're tanking now.

Stotts is under contract until 2020. He'll be our coach for at least 1 more year - more likely 2 more years.

Actually I want whoever coaches next to be the heretofore unknown guy that is destined to be the second coming of Pop.

    Easy peazy.

He won't survive this year if they don't really start playing better after ASB. Plenty of coaches have been canned early int heir tenures see David Blatt and Derek Fisher.

More likely whoever he will be is going to be the second coming of a pop-tart.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Tater Totts to Pop-Tart? Is that even an upgrade?

Also, Stotts was supposed to be the next Carlisle. It's hard to find great coaches. Stotts isn't terrible, nor is he all that impressive. He just is.
