But so they get the helicopters and mini-subs that go with Paul's yacht? Might be a deal breaker if they aren't included.

Can only trade Nurkic alone within 3 months of acquiring him I believe according to the CBA. Not that I think we are looking to do that.

The wording in the CBA says up to 3 months or something like that... But no. Only until the deadline in 2 weeks or so.

I think now there won't be a big trade at the deadline (like for Butler). Our best chance to get an impact player is to get into the top five in the lottery and be able to have that as a trade asset, and to have that a guarantee, not something that might happen. This will also take another year off a bad contract like Leonard's and hopefully we can trade it for a second round pick. Not to mention establish Vonleh value and make Crabbe easier to trade. So Olshey won't make a trade now unless someone insists on giving us something good.

We do. That's effectively two picks plus Crabbe for Vucevic which is way, way too much.

We shed 16M in salary and still end up with the best player in the deal

I would do the deal if it was only the CLE pick. Doubt they would in that case though.

He has some outside game. Not a huge need maybe but Neil still rumored to be considering Okafor even with Nurkic.

I've never watched him play. It seems like they're both best suited to guard other centers though.

No I wouldn't do that with 2 draft choices.

Okafor is cheap though and probably a backup anyway.

Give up our top 10 pick for Vucevic? No thanks.

However, Green, Watson plus the lower of TOR/LACs pick would interest me. Would be a cap dump while getting another 1st. Green would take Crabbe's minutes and help us tank.

One thing to keep in mind when talking trades is that Dame is 26, quickly on his way to 27, and CJ is a year younger. Nurkic is nice, but he is 22. When he is in his prime, what will Dame and CJ be as players?

Still not playing defense? Right answer?

Honestly the Blazers seem to be in a bit of a squeeze. Plan A seems to have failed and Plan B, if there is one, seems to cross generations. Nurkic has enough skills now to likely help before his prime and during Dame and CJs too. I would guess that NO is looking for talent like that, that is young, but has enough years to be able to actually play now (un-Leonards). This is why I would guess someone like Noel would be appealing.

It seems like they are at a fork in the road now. I would guess they want to leverage all those first rounders into players like Noel and others just at the beginning of their prime. But, if they can't get those guys, then you draft the best you can and punt the decision down the road. If you draft wisely you can always leverage those players. But If you can't leverage, then at some point you have to reset the clock--likely at the end of Dame's contract.
