Sorry, but I read the full transcript and made my decision based on his duties as a Senator. If audio recording comes out that he is guilty of what they are assuming he did in his Senator capacity then I will call for him to resign. Until then, this is a non-story.

Edit: This whole line of questioning from Franken to Sessions wasn't about Russian tampering in the election.

Franken's question was all about the fake MI6 dossier, and the #pissgate hooker story, along with alleged meetings between Russia and some of Trump's people, in which they even got the wrong person.

It's pretty clear in context that Sessions was asked about the allegations in the dossier and that is exactly what he was denying, to the extent of his abilities to do so.

Also Senator Patrick Leahy asked Sessions if he had "been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day. Sessions said "no". And there is no evidence anywhere to cast doubt on that claim, including WAPO.

 

Routine meetings for a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. The questions were framed to refer to conversations about the campaign, and in that context the meetings were irrelevant to the questions.

However, there is enough between this current Sessions misstatement and Flynn to have a special prosecutor appointed. Sessions can't be in charge of the investigations.

Did you read the REAL context of the Franken question and not just the WAPO cut up quote?
Please understand Sessions was answering a question, asked by Franken, about a fake news story running by CNN, regarding the "MI6 Dossier" and the question was insinuating current or former campaign members from that dossier. It was not a specific question about himself. And this is why Sessions replied the way he did.
