So with the season almost over, what is everyone's thoughts on Calabro and Hurd?

Personally, I've gotten used to them but I still miss Mike and Mike. Calabro is so cringey sometimes and Hurd seems like he's trying too hard. Neither are very "Portland".

I like them but feel like they got an awful season to start being the voice of the team....we only now are starting to have a core that fans are identifying with and most of the season there hasn't been a lot to generate positive buzz for a broadcast team...I think they'll be a great team given some more time and a better season to cover.

Yes, I miss Mike and Mike more than I thought I would, especially Mike! :)

Calabro seems like he could be calling any game for any team - generic. Hurd is excellent.

I think I miss the teams that Mike and Mike covered and it seems they were part of the excitement of the time, but Calabro and Hurd got stiffed with a dysfunctional roster that lacked consistency and identity

I just wish they could have stayed on in some kind of roll. They had that 'Portland vibe" to them.

Sometimes I wonder who the new guy's are rooting for.

Don't like 'em. Liked the Mikes better. Worse, it was an attempt to "be like the big boys" by poaching someone else's voice. We had our own thing going and we liked it.

As much as I respect Rice's BBIQ....I didn't respect his broadcasting skills...he should have gotten Jaynes job at Comcast...perfect job for Rice.

I don't pay attention to much to broadcaster that don't get excited. Especially when go on run in the game. This two guys are to mono tone while they call the game. I do like Mike and Mike better.

I haven't watched much of the Portland broadcasts this year. I tend to watch the other team's broadcast just for something different each night.

I did the same when Mike and Mike worked too.

But from the little I've seen of Kevin and Hurd I like them.

    Really miss Mike and Mike.

These guys haven't grown on me. Calabro is just there. Generic broadcaster. Any excitement he's able to muster seems forced and on a one second delay. Whatever.... But I can't stand Hurd. I've actually found myself muting the broadcast sometimes because he starts going off on these tangents that he thinks are funny/entertaining but he couldn't be more wrong. And his delivery is amateur, much like Antonio Harvey. It's just brutal.

I like them much better. I hope they start to interject a little more of the player's personalities/conversations they've had. Some of that takes time to develop.

    Hurd is getting better.

Calabro is getting worse. How does he still mistake Dame for CJ (and vice versa) 6 months into this gig?

    Calabro is good, but bland.

Hurd is pretty good when he's not trying to be funny.

    God, I miss the Mikes.

Do not like them very much. They talk too much.
We are watching the game via TV not Radio.
What I want from these/any anouncers is comemtary that I can't see.
Like who came in for who and time outs and time left etc. And get the names right Calabro.
Hurd is ok except they are too long winded with their antidotes and get in the way of the game info.
He has fairly good insite to play info, screens etc. but is too long winded.
They both talk too much about the other player/team.
AND GET THE DAMM ADDS OFF THE SCORE INFO AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN.
The experiance is supposed to be the content of the game and our teams players.
They ride the team plane surely they can get some interesting background on players and coaches.

Horrible decision by McGowan and Allen. I miss Mike and Mike. I watch the games, but I tune out Calabro and Hurd.

Recently, I heard a commercial done by Barrett and a Rip City Flashback that had Rice in it. They loved the Blazers and that passion cannot be duplicated.

I don't think McGowan realized that Blazers fans had such a connection with Mike and Mike. Were they blatant homers? Absofuckinlutely. But we didn't give a shit, they were corky and unique to us and we loved that. Who gives a shit if we weren't up to the professional standards of national announcers, we had a real relationship with those guys. And btw, I thought Mike and Mike did a tremendous job of making a blowout interesting and keeping a peaked fan interest.

McGowan is an LA prick who doesn't understand the philosophy and culture of Portland, and more so blazer fans specifically. He made a move that he thought was big market. I think he found out quick that we have no desire to be like the others. Mike and Mike embodied that.

Oh and side note; the whole nerdy old white guy and trendy black guy thing that Calabro and Hurd play is so fucking pathetic. Create another dynamic, that shit is so played out and such a crutch.
