I was walking around U. of Cal. at Riverside one day and saw a list of daily events. He'd be in one of the big lecture halls in an hour. I knew of his fame only from mentions in Newsweek, knew nothing about him, but could not forget the odd Buckminister name. So I went and watched him get interviewed and answer questions.

That was the same campus where one day I was walking around and chanced upon the Student Marxist Club throwing carrots at Strom Thurmond while he spoke at a podium. But that's another story. (He was quite annoyed.)
