If you're into a free market, then you can't really argue against this.

These are private companies, and you choose to use them. Nobody is technically forcing you to sign up with these companies and provide them with access to your home. You aren't required to have the internet. Facebook has been fucking us over for years. There have been plenty of stories about what you're granting permission to facebook when you download their app on your phone. These are private companies, not the government, and they own your browsing history. The government has been protecting us, but if you do not believe in government regulation and you feel like the government should stay out of business.....well..... there you have it.

With that said, the internet is viewed by a lot of people as a basic human right in this day and age. I feel like, at this point, we need to turn the internet into a heavily regulated utility, so companies like AT&T and Comcast can't manipulate it or filter it or control it. Frankly, I wish more cities would come out with their own publicly funded high speed internet service.

Remember when the very controversial idea of equal rights for women was added to the constitution (ERA). Oh yeah, that didn't even get ratified by enough states. Hah. Nevada just ratified it yesterday. Like 30 years too late.

The vast misunderstanding of what the Constitution is and what it protects never ceases to amaze me.

The Constitution does not protect you from private companies. It protects you from the government. So just as you can be fired for saying something offensive without freedom of speech protection, you can also have your personal information sold to the highest bidder because these are private companies. If you don't want Comcast to have access to your private information, stop using Comcast. It's that simple. The Constitution has no bearing on this topic whatsoever.

i wonder if browsing history will become a commodity. maybe employers will buy someones history before hiring them. we are all going to find out we are all perverts and watch way too much porn.

i dont know. im willing to bet ive wasted a quarter of my life watching porn. felt worth it though.

i killed facebook years ago and ive been real tempted to kill off the phone and get a land line. but phones are so convenient for listening to pandora in the car and shit. i dont think i could live without the internet. im already alone. id be really lonely if i couldnt connect with live cam models and blazer fans. if i had a family i think i could live without it.

I think there is an episode of Black Mirror that is pretty much this premise.
